Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Went from dream job to despising this place

It's not the first time I've heard someone saying that they totally despise this place. The disappointment is huge. Many people who used to love their job now hate the fact that they ever applied here and are trying their best to leave as soon as possible. Do you remember when you started to hate working at Cisco?

I worked very hard at Cisco, and they STILL canned me. For what?
  1. Budget cuts
  2. Managerial empire building/nepotism
  3. Threatened by your competence
  4. Age

It's probably one or more of them. I've been caught by A & D.

I left as soon as I had an inkling that they were taking me for granted. I got a 40% raise from a smaller competitor.

I don’t hate Cisco but upper management is pretty terrible.

I was employed in Richardson for 6 years and enjoyed the career and the tech @ Cisco. I had nothing but great reviews and raises along the way, delivered on all assignments. In 2020, a manager was promoted into my department hired his family members and I was laid off a week before xMas. Talking about a wake-up call, ouch!
So now, I am on the customer side and I make the decisions on who's hardware and software go into our data centers. Yeap, I replaced all of the Cisco HW/SW equipment with a competitors and don't regret it one bit. Is it petty, maybe, but Cisco's back order is almost two years out. My current vendor is present and respectful and differently less expensive. After leaving Cisco, I have not looked back and will not even entertain a return, yes I was asked. NOT AN EMPLOYEE FRIENDLY PLACE!!! run away

It started when layoffs every year became a ritual. But a lot of us stayed because we like the people and the tech. Next came the shoving of left-wing propaganda and ideologies down our throats. Lastly, the forced vaccination on people turned my tolerance to hate. Companies a fraction of our size pursued lawsuits against the federal government but not Cisco. Cisco kneeled before Biden and said, "yes master. We don't care about anybody's right to choose what is injected into their body." Now I hate this place and won't be here long.

When I realized that most of the people in leadership positions don't have a plan and are just sucking money out of the company while the ship sinks.

Oh and when I noticed they are using Cisco as a personal slush fund and really don't give a care to what happens to the company. Especialy the ELT - they seem to be the worst offenders.

Oh! And when they hired a bunch of celebrities to give pep talks instead of giving us any kind of inflation raise. Hello! Why are they wasting money on that garbage???

  • when a VP started hiring friends through Accenture
  • when a Sr Director put people on layoff lists that could potentially compete with him
  • when work/projects are given to people due to relationships
  • when a VP would purchase fake awards to promote themselves during budget cuts

When they laid off a bunch of our team mates right before the Christmas holiday. (Which they seem to do just about every year or ever other year).

That is psycopathic behavior. (Lack of any understanding or care about fellow human beings). Everyone has family trips planned. Everyone has gifts bought and money is tight. And bo-m! No more job!

Shows how much Cisco cares about its employees or doing the right thing.

When they laid off a huge group of TAC engineers that were great at thier jobs and replaced them with engineers who knew nothing, cost about the same, but couldn't get thier work done because they knew nothing about the product.

All because they wanted to have a "regional site strategy" so someone in "leadership" could say they did something that year.

Messed up most of collab TAC for no good reason at all.

When they told me my body is thier possession. Along with my health data. And forced an experimental gene therapy on a large portion of the company.
