Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

We'll be hiring again soon

I'm willing to bet that we'll be hiring for at least some of the positions that were cut within a month. This is about getting rid of older employees who earn more than those on top consider appropriate, everybody else is collateral damage. Once things settle down, they'll start filling those positions with a cheaper workforce.

@3sad+1jqWxlrk only if you can prove discrimination, which you won't. At will employment means they don't need a reason to terminate you.

Never accept the package. Talk to an employment lawyer. If the company repost your position to fill you can sue.

I joined the company in just April 2021 and I most certainly don’t think I was highly paid.

The company also got rid of a bunch of ringers too. Everyone gets branded with do not rehire.

They likely had a $ reduction target to hit so if they can get to the number with fewer heads cut, they would target higher paid employees. Totally unfair and ends up essentially being age/tenure discrimination, but I am guessing that’s how it all went down.

I believe that. I was part of the layoffs yesterday and it was definitely because I made the most money in my group and my tenure at the company. The other people in my group that was cut fit in thr same category. Biggest problem besides the economy was our sales team couldn't sell sh-t. We kept losing out on billion dollar deals to lumen
