Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Isn’t 3 days enough to play pretend?

All we do is drive to an office where we take teams calls. There’s no in person interaction. Can we just cut the sh!t already? This isn’t changing anything. Just pi-sing people off and burning them out.

RTO has created an atmosphere of make believe. People wandering around aimlessly in the am finding an office which is good for 15min to a half hour and if you run into anyone another half hour complaining about seating and RTO. Then there is the back-up line at the coffee station which is good for at least another 15min to a half hour waiting until you start shooting the breeze in the coffee station where more bs and gossiping about current culture takes place. Once you are finally back at your drop-in desk you set up your laptop which was already turned on and logged in when you stepped through the door and badged in to ensure one is counted in the 15 min pings. Then some more people stop by to bs about the current work conditions and before you know it is lunch hour so you shlep out to get a bite to eat and by the time back at ones desk it is about 1:30-2:00 as more people had your ear about, layoff news, parking and commuter complaints...then coffee time again, more socializing and complaining and before you know it is 5:00PM and your out of there. RTO is bearable if you just play the game as it is all smoke and mirrors and has nothing to do about finding dedicated employees or those that want to work at AT&T as it is all about getting people off the payroll. Chances are ones number will be up sooner or later so play along.

That that’s their goal. They want you burned out and to quit.

RTO isn't about performance. It's about making you uncomfortable enough to quit.

It starts with 5-day RTO.

Then HR will squeeze CSO to overload teams with compliance headaches. You will have more work with less people, in some cases impossibly so. If you can't do the work, you will be blamed and reprimanded.

If you somehow manage to survive that, they're bringing in McKinsey to cull the company. Remember the Bobs from Office Space? It'll be just like that. Your fate will be decided based on a sentence or two detailing your job function. Your achievements and/or prior ratings will be irrelevant in the decision making process.

all the buu's and huu's from the cr'eye'ing beyb1es.
If you can stop sobbing long enough there are only 3 things you should do:

!) shut up

  1. grow up
  2. show up

adults go to work, AND WORK, nobody likes working with these sniveling children

It's probably not going to last forever, but it is a test. They want to see who wants to work for T. If you aren't playing along, you'll get terminated.

“Stop whining about RTO, it's over!”

You do understand the concept of change, don’t you?? It doesn’t happen often if you just act like sheep.

"If you are not happy with your job, go elsewhere. Don't be weak. Show them who's the boss!"

But I am scared. There is no way I can make this kind of money elsewhere.

3 days isn’t enough to make you quit without having to pay you a severance.

Stop whining about RTO, it's over! The gravy train now goes to the office 5 X 8! If you're not onboard, you're a target for termination. Either find a WFH job elsewhere or STFU!

One thing I’ve come to learn about AT&T is, it’s all ‘Pretend’
Leaders don’t really do anything. (Town Halls prove that in spades). We play pretend with everything we do. Nothing is ever really accomplished. We just schlep money into their pockets by doing some busy work. We don’t lead, innovate, or create anything. Our whole existence is the biggest scam since they built the pyramids.

“ Just pi-sing people off and burning them out.”

This is by design so folks are pressured to leave (of ‘their own’ volition) without severance .

Yes, if you are a part time employee with a 24-hour weekly commitment.
