Hi all, This is FierceTelecom's senior editor Diana Goovaerts. I see your criticisms and appreciate them. This site is actually what tipped me off about the layoffs in the first place, so thank you. I did ask Verizon directly about the higher layoff numbers I've seen on here and was told they are false. Given that I didn't see headcount numbers in Q2 and Q3 earnings (only in Q4 2021), I couldn't extrapolate any additional information. You’ll be able to roughly figure it out in a few quarters by comparing SG&A expense in their external filings before and after. I think they purposely don’t disclose HC totals in the SEC filings to hide the constant reduction in numbers. The truth always gets out though
The article actually states "a small percentage of its total workforce". If memory serves, the worldwide total workforce is approximately 110,000 employees. Of course - as someone else said, Fierce Telecom is only printing what a Verizon PR person is telling them.
