Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO is a melting candle of life itself

Each morning, we get into our cars and begin the slow unraveling of precious hours, leaving behind the warmth, comfort and love of our family homes. The monotonous grind begins on congested roads, where miles stretch endlessly, a cruel prelude to the 5x8 isolation of an office that offers neither solace nor purpose. Time, so fleeting and fragile, is duly sacrificed to a scheduled rhythm that is achingly hollow. The office walls imprison us, and in many cases, distance us from the gentle hands of a child, the shared smiles of a partner, the critical care of loved one, and the irreplaceable threads that weave a meaningful life. We sit, performing tasks that fade into the obscurity of time itself, as the outside world pulses with life and the moments and memories that were meant to be lived. And as the day slowly dissolves into the regretful quiet of the commute home, one truth remains unbearable: that the hours lost to RTO and the pointless traffic and toil, can never be reclaimed, leaving only the deep ache of a life counting down.

False. Severance is not being reduced to two weeks. State laws forbid it. In other states severance will effectively be increased to 3 to 5 years with all the lawsuits that will be filed and won.

In case you hadn’t heard, future notification periods and severance payments will be limited to 2 weeks for management employees.

“That was a nice soliloquy, but nobody is compelling you to work here. Why don’t you find something more personally rewarding to do with your time?”

Ohh Jeremy , we know you are trying to punch above your intelligence here, but be assured no one is let you win by not taking severance.

I am ready to go through this he-l and keep venting out here, but for the years I put in and for the loyalty, you need to give me that severance package.

OP, you sound like a moody, brooding teenager listening to emo music in your room and writing angsty poetry/short stories.

Don’t worry guys! This won’t last long. Once they hit their “number” nobody would care anymore. Our group were one of the earlier ones that were asked to be “back” in the office for 5 days, not even the 3/2 hybrid model. Well…It’s been about 2.5 years now - there’s no such thing of improving “collaboration and productivity.” Only bare minimum and low morale. I don’t think these id10ts realize that they are well on their way of destroying this company or they just don’t care. They’re compensated very well for incompetencies.

This post is best to read with the Severance soundtrack running in the background.

“ Try doing RTO, but it entails having to deal with city public transpo. to get to work every day. No quiet commutes there!”

Commuted to work on the NYC subway for years before AT&T. It wasn’t the time of my life but it was almost always on time, I didn’t have to sit in traffic, deal with crazy drivers, in the morning especially it was generally silent, and I had no insurance, car payments, maintenance or gas to pay for.

Public transit may not be as comfortable as a car but I would sure prefer to have it at least as a viable option.

What a fu--ing first-world-whine. I'm sure you are paid well for your 'suffering.'
Tell me you've never actually been disadvantaged without telling me.

Are you ok? That little accent above triggered you? Seriously? Grow up.

You people who whine about being stuck sitting in traffic for the "quiet of the commute" have it easy!

Try doing RTO, but it entails having to deal with city public transpo. to get to work every day. No quiet commutes there! You get Shaniquas arguing loudly with innocent people for inadvertently bumping into them on an overcrowded train or bus, where people are packed in like sardines. Often these altercations become violent.

You win. That does su-k more. Especially the entitled Shaniquas.

What I love about AT&T is the best anyone on the leadership team (or their shills here) can come up with as motivation is some version of: "Hey, be glad it is not worse."

Combine that volume with all kinds of nasty smells and sights: coffee breath, sneezing and coughing, B.O., open sores, homeless people pi55ing, sh!tting, b@rfing in and around the train, bus, station, etc. Bonus points for when it rains...adds an extra oomph of humidity and funk to the scene.

And of course there are the usual delays, due to infrastructure breaking down and wearing away over time without any maintenance being done regularly. So it still takes an hour just to get X-town, but you have to deal with all of the extra added hassles of urban transportation.

Be glad if you get to ride alone in your car, with your own choice of music, temperature, and personal space for a commute. That is a luxury which others who are not as fortunate get to indulge in.

Here’s my problem: Jesus puts it in me, forcefully and without invitation, on a daily basis.

Half my waking hours are spent searching for eyeballs that he’s popped out in the course of going to work on my life.

Pretty impressive how he is able to tag me so hard and so ruthlessly from so far away. Mr. Endurance, that one. He really loves it.

Why are candles so happy on Friday’s?
Because they are burnt-out and need the wick-end off! 🕯️😂

Apparently, the hours are not important to the OP if they still work here. Your time is not as important as you think. Sorry you have to cut grass on Saturday now like I have to. Boo hoo hoo !

I start every day with only 21 hours now instead of 24 since I waste 3 hours commuting for absolutely no reason other than to prop up the broken presence report. I would rather work those 3 hours I waste sitting in traffic, but they don’t care.
