Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoffs in general.

This may have been ask before. Please forgive me if it has been. Does Wells Fargo do layoffs on a non pay week. Meaning not the Tuesday after payday. I'm in a group that's not in a hub and my job is going to another state. Replacements have been trained. Thoughts?

My “conversation” meeting invite was sent to me the Monday after payday. The conversation was had on the Tuesday after payday. It was one he-l of sleepless night. Fast forward one year later…I’m at a new company and sleep great every night. Chainsaw has created a toxic work environment. HUB or no HUB. I wonder why it took me so long to leave!

This mama was laid off on Tuesday after payday once I got the meeting with my manager on a Monday night I knew so I was all prepared!

He said, I am so happy that you’re concerned with your customers and not about yourself.

I’m like, this is a godsend for me and I was actually wishing for this and manifesting it! 🤗

Be leary if y'all apply for a tech job with Bank of America. I know of someone who took a tech job with BOA. One of the strange training requirements was required reading of a book titled "Why white man is bad." Strange requirement for a tech job.

If it's the two let go Tuesday I heard about yesterday, I am shocked and sad. The two of you were always very helpful to the site, and just very good at your jobs. We will be lost without you both, and miss you. I thought about you both the whole evening last night. The next company that hires you will have excellent employees. Very excellent.

For location strategy like your case expect the Tuesday after payday. For efficiency layoffs it can vary.

We called it Terrible Tuesday, Tuesday after payday. I know firsthand that they laid off on days other than just that Tuesday, but that was the main day. I listened to Charlie say in a meeting that Wells is moving 70% of the IT department to India. We recently hired contractors in India, and I and a coworker were laid off. I had almost 25 years there. Knew it was coming, and even figured out what day a while before it happened. Happy to be gone. Toxic work environment. Only sadness that I feel is the work that was left for others to take on. Others that were already way overworked as a result of previous layoffs. Very sad.

I believe doing it on Tuesday after payday makes it so both 60 day notice and severance will align evenly with the end of a pay period. Meaning HR has to prorate fewer checks when they do it that way. Could be part of the reason.

In the beginning it was the third Thursday of the month, I've only seen that on occasion now.

I know -many- people who were displaced in the past three years, every one on the Tue after payday. I can't say I remember anyone ever getting it other than on the Tue after payday. Can anyone absolutely verify this has happened on other days?

There has been, and likely will continue to be, a cadence to the batching of layoffs. I assume that is more efficient for HR, Finance, and leadership. But as others have pointed out here, you can be told to get the bozack at any point.

Usually not in the larger numbers, but they absolutely have downsized people on days other than the 'Tuesday after pay day'.

It can happen on other days not typically as much on those Tuesdays of course. I’ve seen some happen on Thursdays for example but it’s been rare.
