Asking Developers to be Testers and Merging Testers into Developers Roles Is such a Bad Idea that it Became so Messy, Horror, Frustrating and Ugly. It not only impacted application development quality, velocity, focus, innovation and interest but also ki---d individual interest, skills and they fail faster with both roles as a developer and as a tester.
Software developers lack the objectivity to be able to test/develop and they may find it harder to put themselves into an end user's shoes or assume that the user will have knowledge about something because they do. Because they have no interest in testing, no testing knowledge, no experience of testing, no automation knowledge, lack of end-to-end perspective, lack of desire to test, testing is more painful and need to stick your a-s ho-e for hours and developers don’t have enough time to sit and focus on testing.
Putting together, asking Developers to be Testers is a failure. God only can save them.
