Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell field customer service

Dell will move all ISG installs to 3rd party Unisys starting Nov 1 with vxrail and data domain. By Feb 1 all products will be installed by 3rd party. Expect massive layoffs if you work field customer service.

Probably won’t be laid off by Dell. Probably be working for Unisys or laid off by Unisys. Michael Dell will look like a hero as he screws ex EMC employees once again and he will make another fortune when VMware gets bought out

I'm brand new FSE1 at DellEMC - I believe (based on the old hands) that lots of us will be let go. I wish I had job protections that unions provide. I guess thats a dirty word though.

the internal hostility of ISG to FSE/Support/Deployment is driven by the legacy EMC lackeys who want to feed their family members and frat/sorority buds. Then when Dell realizes that no partner is loyal because they are a margin only business, the EMCers will coast into jobs held open for them at their buddies' resellers.

This is not fake news I say be ready simple economics says if you move the workload from one group to another then there will be a workforce reduction. We just had a major meeting saying that people may need to change roles.

@ @6xkw+1jrVP3p7 Not true. I am in CS and they are scambling to try and get someone from Unisys in one of my Enterprise accounts to perform a Data Domain upgrade that I was scheduled for before the cutoff occured.

It's fake. Unisys will not be used. It is going to the PS team. Unisys is not allowed in most datacenters due to so many mistakes.

Unisys is pretty much despised by the biggest storage Enterprise accounts. Dell has definitely betrayed the CS workforce and has been blowing smoke up our a-s for the last couple years. They deserve what they get. My team in a large metro area is already seeing the axe come down. Happy Holidays suckers.

For those that claim fake news.... yesterday I received my notice. I am a Dell FSE. How fake is that?

One more nail the coffin for Dell Field Services organization. They have been moving in the direction to sell off the organization for three years. First by eliminating management layers then going after the high paid senior techs. I'm guessing that before the end of FY they will announce the organization will be sold to Unisys.

True!! Unisys actually provides Field Ops for Dell globally... Great partnership... hopefully same outstanding Customer experience of ISG installs.

From firsthand experience I don't know why systems aren't set up at Dell before they're shipped. We give customers so many options it seems worse to have customers sit through a deployment wizard that fails out a thousand times because something like a VLAN or DNS isn't set up. So why even let customers use that. It's not "converged."

If it in anyway costs less than the current model consider it done.
All Dell is trying to do now is cut anything and every cost they can to boost the bottom line and make the stock look better and payoff the enormous debt lid they are under.

The counter play needs to be a union for any technical non sales staff across the industry

Don’t need field deployment and installation when the goal is to have a cloud ecosystem and no data center racks.

Services has helped Dell weather a lot of underperformance in other business units. But this is the play.

How many people work in CS

Dell was never interested in keeping CS org they inherited from EMC. Unisys already does some of there break fix work. Writing is on wall for CS.

Is there not enough break fix work available for all of CS,?

by

Post ID: @1jbh+1jrVP3p7

This is 100% true. This will only leave Dell ISG CS with break/fix type work. Unisys could hire a few but wouldn’t expect much just ask anyone from former HP CS.

Not fake news. This was announced to the ISG Project Managers on an all hands Thursday.

As for setting them up, internal project BORG is eventually going to replace the Solutions Architects. The plan is that configs can be automatically installed at manufacturing. But that is further down the road

How is Dell ever going to become a solutions and services company (ie, APEX) if all we ever do is ship boxes and can’t even set them up ourselves…..

And if true, services staff will be enjoyed by uniysys with same terms

Perfectly Dell. Rather than provide the best CX, we’ll outsource the most the pivotal point of customer satisfaction (deployment and install) to an SI to save money.

And I am not in field CS. Just noting the continuing trend.
