Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Corey Townhall

Not sure which is worse between him and McSelfish, but the RTO question he said gave him high blood pressure. 1 question with over 200 up votes he tried to answer while clenching his teeth. Top 7 questions was just all RTO and leftover angst from McSelfish townhall. Hes acting all defensive as if employees did him sooo wrong. How he proudly said they fired people for "not coming to the office" bet said person was remote prior to this and lives 40 miles 1 way. Laughed and mocked when asked different questions other than RTO, 1 person posted its not a laughing matter.

Get this mook out.

Don't understand the contempt for RFO. Work fewer hours, encouraged to collaborate several hours each day, enjoy longer lunches. Working my designation really is the good life.

RTO? I would not mind the drive, the 8 hours I usually do 9 sometimes 10, what is the absolute and deliberate slap in the damn face is (Why not assign me a fuking desk???) Showing up to work at 7:55 is like 10 workmen showing up to dig a trench and there are 7 shovels, yet they want maximum efficiency?? When I came on as a CONTRACTOR decades ago and was treated better than I am as an EMPLOYEE NOW.. Such bullsht!!!!

*** to EVERY 5th 6th level that agree with the musical chair arrangement... FU*C YOU!!!
I truly hope you ALL receive your comeuppance one day but 10x worse.

"In short order they need to pop those employees showing up only 4-5 hours per day. We need the parking, and the majority is tired of this game."

Stop dragging it out.

If I only had to work 8hrs a day. I’m hoping to find a job that allows that M-F. Seriously a lot of people in Corey’s org that work in an office are 24/7/365. You have no clue. Being in the office 5x8 creates operational difficulties. It really does. We were all hybrid or fully remote pre-covid for that very reason. There is no one for me to collaborate with in an office as we support national operations and those operations shift day to day, week to week.

"How hard is it to come to work 5 days a week , 8 hours a day? If you haven’t figured out that is what you are getting paid for than maybe it’s time to move on. Get over it..no reason you can’t be there."

Fock off dude, seriously, just fock off. Our organization supports tower infrastructure build and repair + disaster recovery all over US. We support all the major outages directly hitting customers. Thats T's cash cow, mobility. We work 24/7, on call and unconventional hours. Our work doesnt stop after 8, thats why we are exempt, hybrid with assigned seating prior to all this bullsh-t. We also handle billing and cannot be shared to anyone outside of us, but I guess everyone's gonna hear me now talking about our budget sitting at a sweat shop style scammer-like call center here.

Seriously, just fock off.

“RTO works and is quickly becoming a basic employment standard. Adapt or leave.”

What flavor is that RTO Kool-aid your drinking?
Clearly, you must NOT be a 24x7 employee.

RTO=Layoff exercise, Period.

You do you.

You still don’t get it, do you? If all I ever had to do was “8 and skate” and do some copy and paste work and maybe join a couple of conference bridges or pass work down to my “Chief of Staff,” it would not be hard at all. My work doesn’t stop after 8 hours, and I can’t even have the courtesy of an actual desk I can rely on being there so I can support my multi-million dollar clients. I can be there 8 hours - sure! Give me a desk. Give me a place to have a conversation with SSPI with a high profile client base where they don’t have to hear the background conversations and other garbage.

Same same. This has been allowed to go on for too long. Some people don't want to work here. They are detractors from team collaboration.

Oh boy, someone still doesn’t get it. There is no valid reason. Your manager being aware is irrelevant. You will be hearing from HR soon. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.

"When someone tries to indoctrinate the concept of 'take it or leave it,' it’s often a silent cry for help. That individual is revealing a lack of true belief in the path they’re promoting, yet they surrender to the will of their master making the decisions—even if it leads to ruin"

WTF? Poster needs to seek help of their own. Let a mental health specialist read your post. You have serious issues my friend. Serious issues.

Your post was otherwise thoughtful and rational. Therefore it puzzles me that you still haven’t seen the light on this.

You’re absolutely GOING to have an issue.

And it matters not what your Boss thinks.

They went after low hanging fruit first and they’re now moving on to others not fully complying.

You wouldn’t Jeff. That’s why you and your ugly vest are rarely seen more than 3 days a week. Still waiting for our apology you wa-ker.

I actually thought he was being candid and I am a skeptic at best. He did mention that out of 5,000 managers, only 13ish (don’t quote me on the number) failed to even make 3 hours a day. I come in every day, but I don’t work the 8. I do have a valid reason for it and my boss is aware of the situation. I’ve never had an issue.

They want the “issues” associated with RTO to magically go away so they don’t have to deal with, hear and/or address them!

Nah

It’s your policy that you put into place, so it’s only right that your hear the “issues” associated with said policy.

You realize how many people thought they were safe, even valued, most certainly not "dead weight" before getting the unexpected ax?? Honestly you can't be that clueless. Be grateful you're in a hub - it's the only explanation for why you're still around because it's the only consideration - but It's just a matter of time. It's a numbers game.
