Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Core Hours

It's not a mistake that you're hearing all of the buzz about "core hours" now.

While stopping just sort of mandating set hours (9 to 5 or what have you) -- we have gotten a couple emails now talking about how we need to work when our customers are working, or something to that affect. Stopping just short of a mandate, or giving specific hours.

If you have been around long enough, you can smell what is cooking, and you know it's coming. Set hours.

No more allowing the good faith efforts to come in early to do your 8 , in an effort to mitigate some of the heaviest traffic on either end of the day, accommodate stuff you need to do after work, catch your kid's game, whatever.

Nope. Maximum misery, all the time. All in a continuing effort to get you to quit.

"Oh FYI, the math if there are 70% of 1200 thats 840 people, that means any given day 40 or more people are SHI* out of luck"

What you didn't take into account is that 70% is based on target headcount numbers...not current. You take that 1200, factor in a 20% or more headcount reduction, then calculate their arbitrary 70% occupancy rate, and leadership expects you to be grateful for all those extra seats. That's the sad reality of their logic.

My customers are APAC so unless we sell off global business, Sir Stank needs to think deeply about what he’s asking.

YOU MUST COME INTO THE OFFICE FOR A FULL WORKDAY..

**** But everyone is coming in, the building only has 800 seats and 1200 people are assigned to this location, and they keep saying at any point in time they only expect 70% capacity.. so NO ASSIGNED SEATS OR EVEN NETWORK CONNECTIONS, USE THE SH---Y WIFI THAT DROPS YOU CONSTANTLY ON MS TEAMS CALLS.. Oh FYI, the math if there are 70% of 1200 thats 840 people, that means any given day 40 or more people are SHI* out of luck, thanks for driving an hour to come to work from home, where you likely have dual monitors fast internet, an ergonomic chair, quite environment. NOW GET YOUR COMPLAINING A-S TO WORK IN THE DAMN LUNCH ROOM ON A GREASY TABLE WHILE THE BREAK ROOM TV IS BLASTING. How dare you complain while the field techs have to climb ladders. meantime in the background you can hear John Stinky
singing "Our employees are our most valuable asset".

Very bad message outside, AT&T is in bad names. Not provided proper seats to employees, not provided proper information and still fired employees. Sad this company name is going in bad names.

Saying 8 hours does not say what is start and stop time. Not sure what type if excuse HR is giving. That is main reason people were relying on their manager instructions. And people who followed or looked up at their manager and were sort in hours got punished unnecessarily.

During his town hall, Corey Anthony said “8 hours” and HR stepped in to correct and say “full day” because there are issues with telling exempt employees they have a start and stop time.

LOL, glad one of my peers has the talk track down. As an HRBP we were told we cant state the number of hours for exempt employees and use the term "full day". Thats so we dont violate the exempt status and cause workplace violations and have to pay overtime to managers. Keep pressing HRBP's on it and something will break. I cant report it since HR can't report HR issues, funny how that works.

What is wrong in giving a clear message of 8 hours? Why HR think its wrong and vaguely saying “full time”. Actually HR of this company is non sense. They should be fired first for not giving clear instructions about how many hours presence required .They don’t even put any effort to discuss with employees and terminated employees without discussing with employees and their supervisors and putting this company in bad names outside world. Amazon and others too made RTO but everyone dealt it wisely. They didn’t make the place overcrowded and make their employees feel the pain in finding a seat in office.

Worth noting this was one of the heavily upvoted questions that was ignored during McFresh’s session Tuesday.

" You have a choice besides bit ching"

Did I not make that clear in my post, dimwit?

I'm merely pointing out what's coming. I'm like Nostradamus over here.

Everyone has a choice, always. Just pointing out that they're intentionally ramping up the pain points again is all.

They love to float the grossly unpopular policy out there for a bit before dropping the mandates. Maximizes the misery factor.

Great, I have been waiting to tell my Customers that we can be only bring up their network when it fits between set hours. Nevermind them losing money to shut business down for a day to suit a metric we decided to implement.

Or, we’re about to hire a cr-p ton of people to add a full-time second, third, and weekend shift.
