I started coming to work at 6:00 to get a desk but now my boss told me I have to start coming in 8:30 to 5:30 beginning in May during "core hours" and can't come in early to leave earlier. If I come in early I can't leave until 5:30 still. Anyone else hearing that? This place is getting more and more micromanaged! I'm in Dallas.

Work from 530 am to 530 pm for 12 hours. Core hour requirements met and makes up for inaccuracies on the attendance report.
You can still come in at 6:30 to secure a desk. Just put in a couple of extra hours. Most employees I know coming in that early simply browse the news and drink coffee before everyone else comes in.
Wtf, as long as work gets done at office no body should worry.

Tell your boss either he provides an assigned desk, or you come in at 6am and leave at 3pm.
No more bankers hours.
