Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The union has lost steam!

Discuss. It seems like the union has really lost steam since order and sanity have been restored a bit in this country and people are once again interested in a merit based economy.

The union was only ever a terrible idea that catered to people who were hoping to not have to work as hard.

Actually the Union had not lost traction at all! We just had two more branches unionized this last month bringing the total to 27 branches and 1 non branch unit. They are currently bargaining for there first contract and have been doing so since October 2024… the Wells Fargo employees, myself included are not lazy at all but have decided to stand up for ourselves because we are tired of being treated like sh-t. We are sick of the cr-ppy raises, work from home accommodations being stripped away against doctors orders, location strategy, layoffs, ect! That is what we are fighting for. So for those that talk out of their neck go check the committee for better banks.org or Wells Fargo Workers United. Unions were strong in the 40s, 50s, 60’s and 70’s and that is why your grandparents could afford to live off of one income… it wasn’t until Regan became president with his “Regan-nomics that the Unions started to deplet and Corporate Greed took over… google it! Educate your self before talking about something you now nothing about.

If union leaders were decent people, they would hang themselves in their closets with their belts.

Shareholders are not donors. This is so not true. You’ll know one day if you ever have assets.

@ng+1js5qh4j9 thank you I needed a good laugh. You believe the workers across this company are there to line the pockets of your shareholders. I believe that shareholders are there to provide employees with a decent living.

As soon as you said order and sanity had been restored you outed yourself as a troll or a fool

No, not everyone deserves a raise. There comes a point where we need to start thinking about our hard working shareholders as well. They’ve worked hard to build their life savings up and deserve a return on their investment in our company.

Losing steam you say? They got like 25+ branches unionized as well as department in Conduct Management. There are always union flyers in my building, that hasn't changed for a while now. Who am I to say to those employees, nah you don't deserve a raise or better benefits? Don't we all?

The difference is you have one group comprised of ridiculously hard working winners (execs) while the other group is comprised of nothing but whining misfits.

It's funny how people trying to talk trash about the union could say the exact same things about our executives and still be spot on.

Wells Fargo is still a terrible firm. The unions can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

every single person that was in that first branch that voted to unionize has since left the bank. I guess they realized that unions don't control or even help most if not all of the things that people are griping about. Lots of promises though. No obligation for the union to deliver anything.

unions are a self-sustaining business. once they're "in" it's harder to dislodge them than it was to unionize in the first place.

Union as a company-wide, nationwide movement was dead when it started.

HY motivated a portion of the workforce to look at unions, and they are still doing the exact same sh-t now. If they are "losing steam", it's probably because the company has managed to 'coincidentally' downsize enough pro union people.

Why would you think the union has “lost steam”?

10 bucks says OP barely works. It's usually the ones who say stuff like this who are the laziest. They're also the first in line to collect welfare when needed, while complaining about how much waste it is.

and how would one benefit in this new merit-based system given the way things are at WF?

how much one need to be sc--wed or exploited to be rewarded?

one third of employees at my work center just don't care and do nothing, yet management doesn't dare move a finger to avoid confrontation
why bother contacting HR when nothing gets done?
and that's what we get without a union, with a merit-based system
it works wonderfully

Anyone pro union would fast track your layoff and maybe under unfavorable terms, so no bonus. In fact, jobs would be moved even quicker to India or H1Bs.

If that's your goal then good luck.
