Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

No one wants to attend coffee chats with management

Very interesting to see that people are no longer signing up for coffee chats with management. Likely a combination of so much work that rank and file do not have time to stop and drink coffee plus a recognition there is no point in talking with anyone not higher than VP as they can only manage upward and cant’t actually change anything.

Executives basically incredulous to the fact that individual contributors and low level supervisors are all super upset with the company and actively applying to jobs elsewhere.

Yammer Leg Humper - I think all you have to do is create a YouTube video or tiktok. YT would be better because I think you could view it on corporate IT resources. Don’t think you can get to TT on intranet connection

How do we get Yammer Leg Humper trending?????

If you sign up for a pretend coffee chat, don't forget to bring your pretend coffee mug so you can pretend to drink your pretend coffee while pretending to chat with managers who pretend to care about you.

Coffee chats are only an opportunity for Yammer leg humpers to earn some “visibility” by doing some dry humping live in the flesh.

It is shocking when the President of our company says at coffee chat that he has not been told what percentage raises or bonuses will be given this year.

Shell 8% and Total 8.3% have made their bonus percentages public. EM has not even told its own Presidents.

Must be insultingly low number to keep secret.

“Coffee” chats are offensive to non caffeine drinkers like LDS.

My advice: Do not for one second fall for the fallacy that these coffee chats or management forums are genuine. If you ask a question that is deemed “wrong” or “hostile” by the host, your Department Head (or equivalent) will be getting a call to have a “coaching” session with you. This will happen even if the question was 100% legitimate and was done so very professionally without any malice.
If you decide to call in, just be prepared to cast all reality aside and only believe what you are being told (regardless of your personal experience and empirical data). I have personally stopped calling in to these things as they only make me frustrated at the lack of influence these Sr Managers have on the important stuff (e.g. %NSI, raises, budget, career development…). Just my two cents.

Have they began to provide updates on your needed attrition date to meet low cost center targets yet? Or is that still too transparent for a coffee chat?

Coffee chat with management = $u-k management d1-k$.

Who want to do that (in addition to the brown-nosers and the hiPos)?

@xlu+1jsCyZqy remember though that it's always fun to listen to the suck jobs perk up with a yammer leg humper - type question and mutter FFS under your breath...

For me, it’s asinine to go to a “coffee chat” to listen to corporate speak while being expected to express my perspective when everyone at the table knows it’s just a show.

If I thought for one moment it was a real discussion, I’d be happy to participate. It isn’t. Who has the time or energy to waste on a make believe “coffee chat”?

I like them. Always good to get management's perspective on things.

Good point, and I like your initiative. I'll no longer sign up to go to any future coffee chats.
