Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

Are "new grad:...." job positions temporary in Western Digital (WD)?

Hi All, I was wondering if these NEW GRAD positions are used to temporarily fill the jobs? Will these employees get fired in the near future? Any rumors?

Hiring NCG is a common way to infuse new blood to a company, to replace those who are leaving/retiring and yes its a method to reduce the payroll.

FOR ANY NEW GRAD...plan on changing jobs every few years to gain experience working for other companies. If you stay too long, you will stagnate. Build that resume as you figure out what you really want to be doing with your career and life.

New grad is a way to discriminate by age. The aim is to hire young employees. I realized this few years ago. I did another Master when I was ~ 50. After graduating and applying for jobs at other companies I realized: I can apply for new graduate jobs but with the salary of a new graduate.
