Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leadership Without Honor

Forcing employees to "relocate" or drive two-three hours to keep their job just to turn around and severance them 6 months later is ghoulish behavior.

What level of leadership training removes compassion?

But Baich can micrormanage and berate employees with the worst of them. Loves the pdf format because he's so paranoid that he thinks someone will change a document after he sees it.

Be thankful you aren't in CSO. Besides having to deal with Stink and Legg--two stallworthes of ineptitude, you have to deal with the entire old executive board of AIG and Wells Fargo--two more loser companies in the world of cyber security.

Apparently they are the only places that Baich can find people that want to come here... but they had to do even more.... In the age of firing people for not moving to hubs, they created the Charlotte hub so these same executives they are hiring don't have to move.
Most of the people they've brought over have no knowledge of what it even means to run an internet backbone and only assume security is protecting a single office location. Go to a meeting with them and you'll be thoroughly embarrassed by their lack of knowledge. Even Baich once answered he'd debug a problem with a "sniffer". Guess he's caught in the age of what people never would think of doing anymore even if it's just a lan problem and not an internet backbone problem.

The one way to beat the system:

When you get the letter, do not agree to move. Instead of that, apply for another job at hub location. It is not same. If you get new job in hub location it is like resetting button. If you agree to move then target will follow on your back even if you come to new location.
Only switching to new job at hub location can work. John Stankman and HR lady cant track it.

PR team is on the site upvoting themselves over and over because it is earnings day. I am sure they will back to orally gratifying hedge fund managers soon.

“OP, where did this happen, and when? Everybody says it does, but only vague references without a named group, location, or office.”

While I am not the OP, I witnessed this scenario first hand on a layoff call. Nobody knows details of what org the person was from because we were all corralled into a mR75 eligible, 50 and over call.
I was disgusted with this vomit company when I heard the soon to be ex-employee ask questions relating to the snail mail that would be sent out. He had just moved after agreeing to relocate to Alpharetta, and was setting up in his new residence. He was concerned that the time-sensitive paperwork would not arrive at his new location on time. Disgusting and immoral and is one of the very reasons I sh-t post here to this day.

“Checking back in to say it is 100% happening and I am witnessing it in real-time.”

Let the reterd be the next. He’s too d-mb to listen to the 100’s of eyewitnesses testimonies from his coworkers.

“ Part of the requirement of advancing in corporate is to have no honor and to sell your soul.”

Ah yes, candidates for the “dark triad” ascend the ‘ladder’ via nefarious means & methods.

Checking back in to say it is 100% happening and I am witnessing it in real-time.

And there isn't anyway in he-l I am dropping a name or location.

The reason no names have ever been posted is that this is fake news. Managers who have chosen not to relocate (and often lied about intentions) put this false rumor out to influence others not to move. No names are possible when surplus shortly after relo has never occurred.

No one is going to dox themselves just to give you a name

Ha! You think they can figure out who you are if you give a name in Alpharetta? There are thousands of people in the office, and just because you name someone there doesn't mean that you're in that group, or even in that office. Tin foil hatter.

OP, where did this happen, and when? Everybody says it does, but only vague references without a named group, location, or office.

I guarantee that if I personally knew someone to whom this happened, I would name a name, or at least the initials, and I'd definitely put their city and org, and maybe even their boss's name. But I don't know anyone to whom it's actually happened.

Are you fckn re--rded or something? You think everyone is just saying it’s happening?

Yes. Everyone has "heard" of a guy it happened to, but nobody seems to personally know them, or what city and org. Not looking for anecdotal hearsay MF, so quit with your hate speech.

No one is forcing anyone to do anything. If not wanting to relocate you can freely decline.

AT&T has given everyone two years of notice at this point. This in addition to severance is above and beyond. Pack up or shut up!

It’s rare to find real leadership here at T.

Everyone in a L2 and above “supervisory” position is ultimately compliance and threat driven from their chain of command.

What normally begins as or is initially democratic, usually devolves to some form of dictatorship, grounded by compliance and our silo culture.

Best just to stay in your lane as an individual here. Keep your nose down, excel at what you can control and run away from toxic people and initiatives as fast as you can.

Yes, I have seen it happen several times. I have even seen the relo lists and the redux list and both lists had some of the same names. Did the company stop the person from moving . . . nope.
