Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Any layoffs at WEC Winston Salem today?

Were there any layoffs at West End Center in Winston Salem today? Since they are, supposedly, emptying the building by end of June the consensus seemed to be that we'd get layoffs today to comply with a 60 day notice. I work there but didn't get any notice today.

If they did that, less people would quit, and US quitting is all Shart wants.

I don't understand what's going on at WEC. Why is it dragging out so long?

I had two coworkers, both remote but living in Winston, affected. I have a meeting on my calendar from my boss for tomorrow morning to discuss the relocation strategy...presumably I'll be laid off.

Lets all come into the office to collaborate. Don't you dare sit in the same seat twice. Now collaborate!

I saw one person clearing out their cubicle at around 10AM. They had been ignoring the "open seating" rules and had food, etc in the upper lockable cabinet. Otherwise, it looked like a normal day. Street parking was full in the morning and it was still full at EoD. Everyone's just walking around like zombies waiting for the headshot.

I also was notified informally that Q2 was my date - maybe late May/June timeframe. It is a major demotivator if the sword is always hanging above you, month to month. There is a chance I could get relocation but that would be lose/lose.

It looks like maybe 17 were let go at WEC on 4/29. It is true the building is not closing until June 2026. There will be employees working there on certain floors up until that time. Almost all IT employees are on 3rd floor. That floor will be cleared out and all equipment removed. The date that seems the most popular is late June 2025. That is not certain as we have seen management change their minds many times. Since all this relocation strategy mess started IT has had different leaders so that could impact the dates. This part I relied on AI. When a company lays off 50+ employees at a ‘single site’, like WEC, it must make the WARN notice public. Maybe that’s why they are doing so few at a time and keep spreading out the timeline? Good luck to everyone impacted by this fiasco.

The 60 day notice is an “employed not working” agreement. In this case, your last day working would be the day when you receive the news of your displacement.

Yes, heard there were some layoffs in Tech, but don't know exact LOB. Also, some in data center, but heard datacenter layoffs were across multiple locations, except the new ones.
Also, multiple layoffs in CTO across the footprint, not specifically WEC

The building won’t be emptied until May 31, 2026.

Common sense would be to tell everyone to work from home and close the building. But HY lacks common sense.

The 60 day non-working notice can happen late June before the building closes. If you’re not working you don’t need the building
