OP, Please explain what is not right. Severance packages are to push people out. Those "regular folk" aren't being pushed out, so why give them a severance package?
What if the regular folk want the pocket money too. Not just the loosers?
If you are not underperformers then you can leave without any reward or severance package.
You have done well for the company. Ford will say Thanks and goodbye.
Because you can get around lawsuits if you can pin someone's exit to poor performance and then give them a bonus to sign away your rights. Again, how people can continue to drink the 'we are Ford family' koolaid over and over is beyond me.
Regular folks can resign at any time. No need to wait told to go.
