Why would they give severance to everyone who wants to go, rather than designating who they want to go? That would be a stupid thing for a company to do. What are you going to do about it - quit? They don't want you to quit, so why would they offer you inducement to quit?
Slack off in the hopes of getting a package? Sure, someone retiring anyway might pull that off, but it isn't a good career strategy. Why not do the best job you can do, and if Ford isn't right for you, get another job or retire?
