Thread regarding IBM layoffs

One out of six low performer

So on each team of six supposedly one will have to be ranked a lot performer and go on structured coaching and if same person for two years they get exited (with a pip as a formality). Is this the way they did things a few years ago? Some people have been saying this. What was it like?

Got PIP’d after two bad quarters. Had just been granted the Chairman’s award of 184 shares of stock for my “outstanding and continued commitment to the company’s success , was given a $15k raise a month before that, along with other recognition. IBM does not care about you. Just know that and take them for all the money that they can give you. They over paid me be many thousands one year and never came back for it… I waited but they didn’t. It’s gone now :)

They get huge bonuses to keep shareholders happy... think stock price and dividend.
That is all that count. The rest, though it is a shame, is just what it is.

No yeah... if they could grow the revenue like Amazon, Microsoft and the likes, they would see even more bonuses. But they just decided to do the strict minimum because they can.

Alvind and Krabanaugh are pathetic low performers since IBM isn't growing any more, but these crass incompetents always manage to get big multi-million dollar bonuses - go figure that one !
LOL.

Stacked ranking is a total demoralizing way to rate a team. IBM did this in the past , but did away with it several years ago. Now it is back. This is just another tactic to make it easier to fire people. Good luck to the remaining US employees. Going to be a bumpy ride. After 18 years, I left the company 6 months ago.
