How long do you hear from recruiter after final interview as an external candidate?

There are certain boxes to be checked as part of the process that drag it out. Welcome to the overly regulated atmosphere. You may be the one they want, but they can’t move it forward with you until all of the boxes in the hiring process are checked. Love or hate it, DEI rules the nest at Bank of America when it comes to this process. And willing to bet that if your name is Bill, Frank, Hank, then you’re already at a disadvantage in that process.

While perhaps not the "slam dunk" you were hoping for, I'd say it's a good sign that you are still in the running.

If they were reviewing more resumes and did not want you, the recruiter would have cut you loose.

When I had 2 spots to fill, I think I made the recruiter go back out at least 4-5x looking for more resumes. While I did not find the "perfect" candidate, I did end up with a few solids and we made the offers eventually.

Just keep expressing your enthusiasm and eagerness. How you are super excited about this particular job and that BofA is your first choice.

If the offer is lower than you hope, then sound a bit disappointed when you're told the number. By the time they make an offer, it shows they are pretty invested in you and you may have some wiggle room to round up.

OP here, heard back from the recruiter, said they are still reviewing more resumes and continuing to interview. Bad sign?

Its a mixed bag because the hold up can be on the hiring manager or the recruiters side. I applied for a different role within my group and it took them a month after the interview to process give me an offer letter. Lol. Hope you hear back sooner than I did. Good luck!! 🙂

I can't speak as an external candidate, but as an internal hiring manager, for some reason the process is always protracted. I'm always eager to get the new headcount in the seat and producing, but it's always slow. (even internal candidates, it's slooowwww.)

Mostly thrilled to have the additional headcount approved (or permissioned to back fill, which is not always approved. More often, we are told "you gotta do more with less".)

Hoping you hear good news soon - and don't give up, but also don't place all your eggs in one basket. (have heard some folks just get ghosted. Bad form.)

If you can wrangle a competing offer, that might expedite and possible bump up your offer.

And no harm in calling the recruitier (repeatedly) to reiterate and emphasize your enthusiasm. Hang in there.
