Self-promotion

Some self-promote is necessary for career but when overdone, you lose credibility.

LinkedIn posts keep popping up of former and current XOM employees who wrote essays about their fabricated accomplishments. Or emphasize the shiny fancy titles of a bew assignment. Please don’t gush about your current and former companies because nobody cares. Padding your resume might get you in the door, but eventually someone will find out you didn’t do all those things you claimed on social media.

So do us a favor and keep your posts to less than 3 sentences with helpful information. When you self-promote in the wrong context or too often, you lose credibility. Do this enough, people will remove you as a contact.

They're so preposterous, so disconnected to reality. Take GenAI architects, what 'real' values have these guys achieved, generating images all day long? Might as well have Adobe or Instagram senior principal architects.
