Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Our team spent 3 months making something in Eliza because that's what the higher ups wanted to see, it would have been done in a week if we just scripted it. Eliza is also purposefully kneecapped tech, ancient models.

Even modern models wouldn't be able to do anything.

The only people that find value in Eliza have fake jobs or don't do anything. Anyone that actually does anything around here (few) see it for the hunk o junk it is.

Hello, all intelligent readers of this thread. This is a pure attempt by someone in the AI Hub team to salvage what has become a very expensive overengineeed piece of junk.

The only way to ‘vote’ on this thread (unless you are in the AI Hub team and need to hold on to your job), you must down vote every response however intelligent the argument is. So you MUST downvote mine too.

But it is a gimmick.

The way we use Eliza is simply to create disparate "bots" that replace what we did in forms before. Request a password reset and she looks at the phase "password reset", asks you the right questions and then fills out the "form" for you, triggering the back-end workflow to reset your account. Eliza isn't thinking. It's not intelligence. She's not coming up with innovative ways to solve problems. She's a new user interface that can parse human speech and then search her vast data lake of documents, code samples, etc to cobble together a response, and sometimes it's wrong.

She's a glorified search engine, albeit better than the search engine we have in MySource, but a search engine all the same.

Copilot is miles better.

What are these ‘projects’, what do they do and who are they for?
