Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Retention bonus

I hear some are offered retention bonuses. In my opinion, this is another sign that the management is losing control and that they no longer know what they are doing.
I'm trying to think in which cases I would accept that option, that is, how big it would have to be in order for me to stay at Ford. How big a retention bonus would keep you here?

BS. 2006 was Company wide voluntary (with a few exceptions) followed by involuntaries in 2007 and 2008. No retention bonuses back then but some of the few excluded from the involuntaries were let go in 2008.

A retention bonus would have to at a minimum compensate for the loss of pension inflation increase. At a max, continue to WFH + 1 yr pay. Contingent on me staying 6 mos.

I remember that in the 2006-2008 lay off. One LL6 that I knew was given a retention bonus. After a year or so, he was laid off in the next round of layoff. He was kind of shocked when he was let go.
Retention bonus is not a shield against layoff. It just says that you are useful in the moment right NOW.
