Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Get out and never look back!

I walked away two months ago after a decade in that soul-crushing, ethically questionable hellhole (you all know what I'm talking about). Best decision ever. The relief was instant, like ditching a bad relationship you tolerated way too long.

Pros of leaving:

  • No more toxic culture
  • Zero guilt about enabling shady practices
  • My sanity has actual value now

Cons of leaving:

  • Literally nothing

When your gut screams get out, listen. Burn the spreadsheet. Just go.

Ok got a question for anybody got laid off. When can you move your 401k out of empower? Just got laid off now I am on the 60 day notice period. Do I have to wait until I am done with my 60 day notice or can I move it out now? If so do I contact Wells Fargo or go directly to empower for that request? Curious. 🧐

Similar experience here. Waited for years for that severance that never came. A job fell in my lap. It su-ks to not get the money, but my boss was playing me the whole time. Loading me up with cr-p tasks, cr-p raises, dangling the payout. If you're slacking - congrats wait for the payout. If you are picking up the slack for 9 laid off co-workers and some clock milkers in IST, get out.

I have 0 regerts.

I was displaced in Feb. after 9 years. I was leading 3 programs under the SP consent order, so it was a bit of a shock to be let go. After about a week into my 60 days (non-working), I started tapping into my network and within a month I had a job lined up. Less money but fully remote at a regional bank with a great culture. So much happier and still have months of severance left. WF was great for the first maybe 5 or so years, then got just awful the last 3 or 4. It is so much better, trust me.

So, if we're comparing this to a bad relationship, this is equivalent to waiting for your gf to break up with you? Why not just man up and take control of yourself if it's that bad?

Much easier said than done for most people right now.

Stock market is on fire. If that remains, then hopefully the job market follows, but for now it's slim pickens.

The last place I’d be is on the WF layoff site if I left 2 months ago

I'm gonna go for the golden parachute. Well, maybe copper parachute.

But given my role and org, I don't expect that to happen.

The ba----ds are going to pay me a year to do absolutely nothing! Not leaving without it.

This is exactly what WF wants you to do. Leave on your own so they don't have to pay severance.

Just give me my severance, not leaving w/o it.
