I was working on the West Coast, was asked to move to New Jersey to keep my job. Rejected that and was surplussed. Am I eligible for unemployment (after 6 months of severance) or will AT&T say I quit and deny the claim? Has anyone had success filing for unemployment after refusing to move?

Your boss does not know nor do they get to decide if you are eligible for unemployment. Your company barely gets to decide. It is up to the state that is offering the unemployment insurance to determine if you qualify.

No, you are eligible AFTER your severance period. If you’re paid 6 months then you are eligible for unemployment benefits after that. But check with your state Unemployment Insurance office first.

Me and one other in TN also asked about relocating to NJ. Bedminster is likely as that is where she is located. After looking at cost of living adjustments, i will eventually decline when decision time is up.
Was anyone asked to reapply for a position. Received a scheduled interview for the position applied for. Instead of interview was terminated.
Go by the official documentation you recieved from your exit interview with your boss.

I'm in New Jersey and had the same situation, the surplus check is distributed as a bonus not a salary so you're eligible for unemployment as soon as you get your last day on payroll

What state? That’s the determining factor.
Check with your states rules on severance payments. Since AT&T had me sign a waiver, my state did not consider it a severance. I therefore was able to take unemployment.
