Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Once the watermarks are reached ...

The real action will take place. A simple decision by management to offload $100k+ Com Tech tube jockeys and Assorted NTS's by means of an enhanced offered is inevitable. Ears deed to time and title plus a cash bonus is likely by June 2023.

Top guy can leave and take the severance to save the bottom guy. Everyone knows this.

If the top guy leaves, they get a "voluntary leave" of 1 year of salary to do so. If a junior person if forced to leave, that is called an "involuntary leave" and they get 1 1/2 years pay to leave. It is in the contract. I have witnessed this several times. Again, everyone knows this.

If one is non-bargained and gets the tap on the shoulder, you are gone with whatever Stankey will bequeath from his looted fortune. ZERO..

The OP keeps posting this same nonsense about offers for Legacy T every couple of days, but it will not happen for NTS’s anytime soon, if ever. There may be a surplus of Comm Techs or NTS techs, but VTP is 104 weeks pay and they aren’t going to just offer that up when they could just as easily lay off lower seniority techs that aren’t grandfathered in to their job titles and would get far less termination pay.

To the first response, the 100K is the yearly salary of Comm Techs on the Legacy T side, not the actual number of techs.

You people are merely wishful thinking on this blog site cuz nothing like severance packages will be issued to any technicians in the very near future. Technicians are needed in many of the areas of the country where work is booming and there aren't enough techs to do the work. Some of the work is having to be outsourced and the company doesn't want to outsource anymore work. It wants to keep as much work in-house as possible! Can't speak for management personnel, but I can wish them luck that they survive any new rounds of layoffs!

The contract was extended to 2026. So, those watermarks gotta hold for 3 years. If they do anything in 2023 at all, it will be something like less than 20 people, volunteers taking an incentive to retire.

Post ID: @OP+1jvNh5k6 You stupid phucking "manager" wannabe 2nd Line. There are not even close to 100K Com Techs, Network Center Techs employed by AT&T. What is going to happen and is happening is that thousands, and I mean thousands of management support personnel that support the obsolete tech will be gone soon. The Craft field techs are being moved, transferred to the growth areas of the company. Kind of hard to outsource the techs that work on the physical network. If you support one of these ageing technologies, learn to speak Hindi or one of the several languages spoken in India because that is where you job is going. Also, learn how to get by on a 80% reduction in wage because that is what Sanjeep in India is paid. Just kidding. AT&T is NOT going to keep you on the payroll. Bye. Work on your English too, it needs help.
