Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Place used to have a bit more class

I remember when people were laid off years ago there used to be a meeting and the manager would tell the team what happened and ask if they had any questions. The last couple of round now they've said absolutly nothing, like the people never even lived or existed, or worked here. Its also like I go into the office and it looks like I’m straight up in Bangalore, its like some unwritten deal where you can’t say hey the place looks like India now wtf. This place is like some Dystopian novel, please get up at 5am for your meeting with India, cause that's normal stuff.

Let’s stop pretending layoffs always follow some grand, public script. These days, companies keep it quiet—low profile, minimal disruption. It’s not about class. It’s about optics, risk, and avoiding panic. A lot of these cuts are driven by location strategy, performance issues, or folks simply not following return-to-office policies.

The truth is, you don’t always know the full story. There are people—at every level—who’ve effectively abandoned their jobs. I’ve seen people sleeping at their desks, glued to their phones, or just flat-out disengaged. And yes, there are dysfunctional teams and managers skating by. Some of these layoffs are necessary.

Leadership doesn’t want to stir the pot with big announcements. But this is going to keep happening. If you’re only looking at it through a narrow lens, you’re missing the bigger picture.

@cq+1jvb3g6da What about what the other poster wrote do you think your link disproves? I would love to learn that they backed off on the mo--nic tariffs, which is what he was referring to.

@aa+1jvb3g6da - Quite the opposite, inflation is at a 4 year low and things are improving:

Even left lean fake news is slowly starting to report the same.

If they can layoff others and have your team move on without a beat, they can do the same to you. Better to look out for yourself since no else is.

You obviously did not research WF before taking the job. These layoffs have been taking place for far more than a year. And Charlie announced the scripted downsizing like 4 years ago

Got laid off last week after being with the company less than a year. as a younger person in the industry who relocated midwest for this position, i feel totally betrayed and blind sided.

Report to ethics line !!! At least 10 ppl do it every month and they will be forced to take action against this abusive environment!!if this all gets out to the media Wells Fargo will be damaged ! They are running a cult of Indian ppl and thinks they are paying from their pockets for our paychecks !!

I've been laid off once, in 2009. It was a total surprise but my manager did fly in from a few hours away to at least tell me in person.

Everyone on my team acts like nothing happens. No communication. Speaks a lot.

A union could fix this.

This CEO let us know early on he thought this was a cult like team environment that he seemed to scoff at then and the way he has run this place since has been as though we are enemy #1. We’ve been beaten down to the point where this kind of cognitive dissonance is common and normalized. It’s disgusting and inhumane but the means justify the ends with this regime.

Our president and GOP busy fighting for $1.50 to $3.00 per item tariff with all other countries thinking that they fill the coffin will all that money. After that, they will spend them on war. They don't care about the people voted for them. Everything going to be expensive here and people will lick their hand three times a day to survive. What a shame?

Can anyone explain the reasoning behind importing all these Indians ? H1Bs by law are paid a comparatively decent salary… other than contractors what’s the benefit ? Is the USA truly empty when it comes to banking talent ?

Interesting. Over the years people compare it to Survivor game. I guess now we can come back on this board and be the jury. I have also watched The Hunger Games. I am glad it was over two years ago I was laid off. I have seen that the management has become more abusive throughout the years -- that's what happens to abusive people if this learned behavior is not checked.
