My Manager said

That they didn’t want to be asked about displacements anymore and was sick and tired of talking about it and to not ask about it anymore. Well!!!

Witnessed a few head shakers. A minority leader brought in from another industry where there wasn't an opening, hired another minority, same, from a different industry. They MTL and dropped the ball and are now asking the boots on the ground what is the target operating model. They will also be cutting folks but have no clue what's going on.

Let’s be real—constantly asking your manager if you’re getting laid off isn’t going to change anything. They can’t tell you even if they did know, and most of the time, they’re just as in the dark as you are. It’s not their job to console you every week during your one-on-one.

If you’re that concerned, start making a plan. Look for another role—inside or outside the company—or have one honest, final conversation with your manager. But at some point, you’ve got to find peace with the uncertainty and stop living in fear. Layoffs happen. They could be next, too.

Bottom line: don’t expect your manager to hold your hand through it. It’s not personal—it’s just the way it works.

on CNBC CS said they are just doing a "little trimming" around the edges. Faber returned a question "Isn't it a little more than that?" CS doesn't count layoff/offshore replacement as a layoff. In his eyes its more of a swap.

I’m surprised they held out for as long as they did. If I managed any of the teams I’m involved with as a peon I would have given them HR’s number and Scharts email months ago.

As a team member I am tired of the incessant stoopid questions and bellyaching from the man-children employed here at Wells. We get it, you’ve never had to worry about your employment before in your entire career and now you’re scared due to decades of complacency. News Flash, your +1 doesn’t know or care. They don’t need to, this is life. Every meeting is day one garbage out of the peanut gallery.

But all that does mean I look like a high perform by simply being quiet and doing the bare minimum. So I guess, Thank You?

That manager needs a bat to the skull. Leaders lead. Whiners whine.

Find new ways to keep asking about it. Your manager is not an autocrat.

What if we all keep mentioning Tuesday displacements?

"Let's leave that story in the backlog until after Tuesday just in case I get displaced."
"Let's postpone that meeting until after Tuesday just in case I get displaced."
"I'm not comfortable taking on any new projects, just in case I get displaced."
"Sorry your request isn't being handled within the established SLA - we've had a lot of displacements."
"Sorry, your emails were routing to someone who was recently displaced. As soon as management is able to determine which overworked Team Member is going to be assigned those responsibilities, we'll let you know but in the mean time we'll have you hold off on sending any more emails to us"

Repeat as needed.

I can't even imagine how many hours of work, collectively, have been wasted by employees talking about this subject. HY should have just ripped the bandaid off, but they wanted to be cheap instead, so they are dragging it out for a decade plus. Failed leadership by any measure.

In his defense it's probably because he doesn't know as he probably doesn't. He's probably said this many times, but people keep asking

Easy solution. Stop doing displacements and there won't be much to talk about. Till then, they can live with it.
