Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone noticing managers that only hire their own ethnicity

Anyone notice a trend that usually managers tend to hire and then favor their own ethnicity only. Kind of funny when you see IT teams that are top down Indian and on,y Indians getting opportunities at promotions. I also see analytic teams it’s majority Chinese but then again I guess you could also say white managers don’t usually hire minorities either

for indians, they really only hire their own. but for analytics.. if you look at the demographics of PhD students dedicating 7 years to math... it's mostly chinese

Now you see how it feels.

If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

Queue the reverse discrimination lawsuit flood once the SC rules that hiring based on DEI is discrimination. WF is ripe for these lawsuits based on what I have seen and know of. The comments here highlight the reverse discrimination and some even seem to be proud of it (shame on them).

Absolutely—this is something I’ve seen firsthand. I’ve watched managers consistently hire only those who share their own background. Black managers hiring only Black employees. Indian managers hiring exclusively Indians. Women only hiring women. It’s not a one-off—it’s a pattern, and it’s real.

What’s surprising is how openly this happens, yet no one seems to call it out. If we’re going to have honest conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion, we also need to talk about when it becomes exclusionary in practice. Fair hiring should mean fair for everyone.

I’m a white female boomer. I have spent my entire working life watching straight white males hire straight white males. It’s always been accepted and taken for granted as normal. Of course when women do it or other races do it they squeal like stuck pigs. I think it’s funny. Welcome to everyone else’s world, MFers.

@c5+1jvd1rmdb . This is true. Why can’t the “minority” managers show the same grace, they were bestowed, on others? I have seen these “minority” managers go as far as overlooking fake profiles and resumes , under-qualified skillets to maintain their comfortable working relation with their own tribe. Talk about sinking the WF ship!

An Indian senior leader joined and fired two white leaders who had been the potential contenders for her role. She replaced them with her Indian friends who had zero organizational knowledge. The third white leader resigned in disgust. She was later promoted out of her role in order to appease business leaders who complained loudly about gross incompetence of the new chain of command.

I’m in Tech. Was in a meeting this past week for everyone that reports to the manager two tiers above me. There were 74 people on the call and of those only three were Americans.

The same is true of Minn. employees. Have a MN manager hiring and 1 candidate is in MN? Count them hired.

In my experience, white managers will hire all ethnicities while Indian or Chinese managers will hire almost exclusively just from their own tribe.

No, but I notice managers who only hire their own gender. In the last 5 years my group, managed by a woman, has hired 8 women and exactly 0 men. On our team calls, men are outnumbered 4 to 1. I’m all for equal opportunity in the workplace, but you can’t tell me that there hasn’t been a single man more qualified than any of the 8 women hired. Quite frankly, it’s demoralizing. Thanks a lot for the DEI push, Chuck.

I don't have a lot of run ins with Indians, especially stateside. However, I have noticed that a lot of women managers have 90% women on their team. Not obvious at all.

I see plenty of “old bhai” hiring that’s for sure. I’ve coined the term just now, but it may pre-exist.

If Bud Light cans can get lit up on YouTube for transgenderism…

Diversity does not apply to the soon to be majority (Indians). In fact, this is not practiced in the their culture, so when they are in power expect it to move quicker to Bangalore controlled.

I am a white manager and hired everyone on my team and my team is less than 25% white.
