Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Who else is working fewer hours since RTO?

When I worked remotely the whole week, I used to feel obligated to constantly check my email and answer them at any hour, I spent at least an extra hour or two on work, and I did more than ever before during those hours. Now I get to the office, take some time to settle in, do my best to "collaborate" by starting up conversations with coworkers (most of who I see for the first time) even though nobody seems interested in talking, use every minute of my break, and once I leave the office, I'm done for the day. Anybody who says that office increases productivity is lying.

I was fully WFH for over a decade prior to COVID. A short week for me was 40 hours with most being 50-60 hours. Since RTO, not a minute over 40 hours and in reality I’m getting maybe 30 hours of work time max due to all the office BS and distractions. I have zero guilt. FRTO & Chuckles

WF right now is like the guy who bought a boat 10 years ago, hates the boat, but will force his family to get on it, and spend money using it, because he feels like he wasted money buying it.

Stop wasting more money using the boat. Write it off, and move on.

If you're going 50 on the freeway you don't know what traffic is, lol. But yeah, FRTO.

I left at 7 this morning to immediately get stuck in traffic. 29 minutes later I made it to the highway. The sun was blinding everyone so we crawled at 50 miles per hour. Hit another car wreck at the Interchange. 45 minutes late and 19 miles down the road I hit construction traffic. Finally got off at my exit to be blinded by the sun again. Got stuck behind a school bus and finally turned into the lot an hour 15 later. Noticed the garage was mostly empty. Got to my floor to see two people. Sitting here 45 minutes later and a couple more showed up. Currently have no work and so planning my exit before lunch.

from a corporate perspective, the company actually saves money with employees wfh because of heating and electric in general. Its more about being able to police your day and in the office the people talk so loud and are more interested in socializing like its a frat party where at home, I do more off the clock to prepare my time on the clock and definitely am much more productive working from home..The offices are shitholes as well

Yep. Today I got to the office, didn’t have time to make breakfast so went and got some. Came back ate breakfast. Got distracted by other team members and catching up. Had a team meeting where most everyone was virtual. Had to get and show a new team member around the floor. Talked for a bit to another team member who had questions. Was hungry so got lunch. Did another little bit of work. Was getting ready for a meeting but then a literal firedrill in the building so had to go down and back up and miss that meeting. Then left early to get home before rush hour. Could have gotten 8-9 hours of work in at home. 3-4 tops in the office.

Much less distraction at home. Why mgmt why!?!?

RTO + inflation (and knowing I'm not going to get a pay increase anywhere close to inflation) has me slowing way down. There's no point in working terribly hard. Just do enough to cruise along and enjoy your time off the clock.

I don't stay in site a minute longer than I have to. When I WFH it's usually 50-55 hours a week. Instead of paying me to be highly productive, WF now pays me to waste time in my car, not be available, and pollute for no reason. No one on my team is at my location and I was WFH before COVID. It's ridiculously d-mb policy and I can't wait for the NYC team to leave.

The leaders know. They’re not as oblivious as they want us to believe. Out there saying ‘oh it’s so great to be back, happy to take this town hall from the office and reconnect.’ LOL I’m sure babe! No one is buying the act. We are however, planning our escapes.
