Low Level Managers

Is it possible to eliminate low-level managers who perceive themselves as significant? There are quite a number of them in Risk. Particularly those who are merely dotted line reports and do not hold managerial positions!

I thought by going agile that one of the benefits of self governing teams is that there would be a need for fewer management levels. What happened?

The upper management relies on mid to low level managers for protection. Remember you are in a game of survival. So far Wells has been able to "meet" their numbers and there has not been any significant crisis. They have not had to have a significant layoff so far.

@kn dont know if true at least in coworkers and my experience. Then there are cases of Indian born and raised managers who work in the US on H1B visa.

"More genuine, qualified. And possess better interpersonal skills"? Definitely not true. But they do bring their biased caste system beliefs with them. Seems to be the case for men born and raised in India. Women born and raised in India who are managers seem to be more qualified with better interpersonal skills.

and as teams continue to get decimated it is these low level managers left to pick up the pieces. put in 12+ hour days, and get the work done, all while trying to people manage.

WF is a fearful bank. A risk is always around the corner like a snake. You either use that to your advantage or you get ignored. You learn to keep the fear growing.

Too many low level managers spend most of their time doing individual contributor work. Doesn’t leave much time for “manager” tasks

These people exist were hired as a mindless panic response to regulatory action. They exist without a business case in dark moist places under our super CRO.

Idea of coaching for a lot of WF managers is throwing you into the deep end and shouting ‘Swim, champ!’ from the shore. Career development plans? Yeah, it’s mostly just vibes and hoping you magically level up like a Pokémon. They are bridge-builder you say? Somehow few of them always build rope bridges during a hurricane. They coach like a GPS stuck in a loop—‘recalculating’ every 5 minutes and still getting us lost.

I think mid-level managers are even less significant and absolutely worthless because they just collect paychecks by doing nothing.
