Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

HR using a down voting bot

You know it must be bad when HR are resorting to using a down voting bot on every single thread. They know the s.h.1.t is about to hit the fan.

The post that vanished quickest was the one warning about mid 2023 and Honeywell looking like a completely different business in 2024. There was something about it that felt genuine.

@4kfd

There are plenty of posts getting removed here that are completely civil and clean in terms of TOS type issues. The only other common thread among them is that they paint the company in a negative light.

The defenders of Glassdoor make the same claims about the necessity of moderating due to TOS violations but that only explains a certain percentage of posts being removed...

@3chf This site is much bigger in scope than Honeywell. People leak stuff here on different companies that often end up in the news, which gives the site some credibility. I highly doubt anybody would mess with that, especially in the way that you're proposing. I'm assuming that what's happening here is people are posting things that are against TOS (I've been here long enough to know that anything that contains personal info, politics, racism, vulgarities, personal attacks, and stuff like that gets deleted) and then getting upset when it's removed. Some, especially the company cheerleaders, get pi---d when they can't change the narrative and start downvoting regular posts into oblivion. I did notice mods trying to fix that as some threads are no longer as markedly downvoted as before.

The put more time into down voting than improving the company. Lol

Besides the downvoting it appears that many other posts are also getting removed. The truth is that this site may never have been an independently owned and operated web site. Being able to monitor and control these kinds of discussions while pretending to be an "independent" site is a corporate wet dream.

Look at what happened with Glassdoor... once they grew and raked in enough users they decided to "update" their business model to allow companies to sign on with premium fees and subscriptions which in turn allows those companies to get negative posts contested and removed. Glassdoor gets paid by the businesses, not the user base. With this kind of arrangement its no wonder that Glassdoor will do what it takes to keep its business clients happy so they keep paying the big fees.

What if this site is doing something similar? What if the downvoting and post removal is a premium paid service where posts are removed by some really "convenient" site policy or by "accident"? Everyone knows Glassdoor does it but off course there are denials all around...

So obvious when one msg on the site was 0/ 47 ( at this time) down votes.
Pathetic Honeyhell!

@1web

Somehow you are getting mixed up between a company's PR group (Public Relations) and the kind of tactics that are being used on discussion sites such as this one. Normally when a PR team interacts with the public they are basically making an official statement on behalf of the company. This statement gets publicized by being distributed on TV, the news, etc. Nothing suspicious about that.

What's happening here though is downright nefarious. Here they are actively bending and manipulating the conversation by using bots to systematically pump up the vote count on topics for corporate propaganda while also continuously posting on them to make them appear as the most visible and "active". Conversely, for the topics that paint the company in a negative light, they will systematically downvote and drown them out by continuously pumping and posting on honeypot distraction topics.

The intent of sites like these is for individual people to post and vote their opinion. What the company is doing though is using HR trolls and bots to spam this site in order to control it. One bot can basically multiply its vote or post by 100x, 1000x, or more. They are doing this to control the speech on this platform while hoping that the average Joe doesn't notice whats going on. This isn't a normal PR campaign and it definitely isn't free speech. This is a corporate PSYOP...

Who cares? Every company has a designated staff who’s job is to read all media and respond to “bad press”. Where do you think those positive articles/reviews all over the Internet are coming from?

Unfortunately for them, they can’t do much here, because this site free to post,anonymous and not owned by them.

What can they do?

They can downvote - easy to spot.

They can make a comment or two - easy to spot.

They can report a post for site’s rules violation (anyone can do that via mail), but they can’t stop people from posting - if your next post is kosher (doesn’t name names and has no swears and insults) it’ll stick.

HR needs to re-read the ethics guidelines. Using bots is deceitful and you should report yourself to the ethics hotline. You claim that's a core value, so it's your obligation to do so!!

When I see the number of votes either way on these threads, indicates to me that there is some interest from corporate. Normal everyday workers wouldn't come to a site such as this to upvote or downvote at thread just because they are happy with Honeywell. It is obvious that there is a dedicated effort to alleviate the damage being done. Keep it up peeps! Maybe Honeywell will start to appreciate its employees and do something good for them once. But I doubt it. We are a threat to the executive's bonuses and they will do whatever they can to keep us down and fighting amongst ourselves. BTW, I am conservative and not a socialist at all. I just think that people should treat other people with love and respect. Unlike Honeywell.

*Note: I posted this earlier today but I guess it was "accidentally" taken down by the site. Funny how that works...

They could be using bots but they also definitely use real people to indirectly "moderate" this site on the company's behalf... they have been for years. These people, be it HR trolls or paid outsiders, are tasked with monitoring the site for topics that leadership does not like. When those kinds of "negative" topics pop up these trolls bury them by continuously posting on honeypot distraction topics which are usually hot-button political or just really divisive/distracting. This strategy tends to keep the honeypot topics at the top which is the most visible part of the stack while the topics that leadership does not like get sunk to the bottom with the hope that they go dormant.

Every divisive topic eventually gets tired and worn out so it loses its pull and effectiveness to distract. If the trolls start pumping goofy topics like the "has anyone heard of..." nonsense then that means they have run out of divisive topics to pump. Now, if they resort to full blown downvoting across the board then it means that they have exhausted all their options and are just desperately trying to discourage anyone from posting. The trolls eventually let off when the "negative" posting slows down. This is a tactic that they have used many times in the past...

It seems as though most of the downvotes come in when the sun is shining on Asia.

Completely agree.
So odd all the ups were suddenly offset by downvotes.
They must be paying someone to do it.
Funnyhell style, just like its parasitic management is used to doing at every level - telling wall street everything is fantastic while laying off and furloughing employees every quarter to make up the margins labeled under OEF..
Shame on them!

Shows that this site is having an impact. Maybe Honeywell will realize that they need to show respect to the talent that they still have? I don't hold out much hope for that though.
