@5ky in 2010 a 3TB hard drive cost more than $235 for an enterprise HDD. Your math is whack.
@81y if so, could state action taken to, in part, to underpin forward guidance
@7y0 july 28 it is
if one applies a tool to provide the answer they seek, is that an objective rating
nudging 55+ no surprise, make it a good package, if there is one.
@7y1 the evaluations were totally random with no way to see why you received the rating you were assigned. No metrics just a two letter rating.
there were performance evaluation recently. and this time evaluation was relative. Anyone in bottom 7 percent might be in trouble
What I heard is this. There will be VSP package for 55+ before quarter end.
@5m8 we’re listening: anyone with any time here understands how it works
@5qv as you know it is budget driven, so and hiring and compensation freezes are a tool, and so are layoffs
No - but there is a hiring freeze. Not sure when it began (a fewish months ago) but really hope it ends soon.
Currently 10/12 months through my initial contract and hoping for a permanent position. Hiring freeze is casting doubts on that. Yikes.

@4s9
2010 650 million HDD/year
2019 300 million HDD/year
2024 122 million
waiting 5 years for HAMR prices to go down?
The cost of NAND has been going down a lot, while HDD $/TB is almost flat.
@4s9 or flash costs fall and eat share
@4s9 took the MAMR detour
WD is capable to tweak PMR at least for five years and wait for HAMR cost down.
AI vs FW developers
@2hh+1jwj74rbt we know WD went the MAMR path and coming back from that
@2fs you're not seriously suggesting cloning Seagate's latest technology deliverable is the only ad tech under development at WDC? If so, WDC will have to wait and see what Seagate delivers next.
What should all the engineers work on, who don't yet work on HAMR?
do you need to ask, just look at the history
@1wc It sounds like you have a manipulative manager. Do you really want to work for them?
move to reshape the workforce for AI, let's see Tend to move slow here
@1wc+1jwj74rbt. shifts in behavior are tells, so keep paying attention
@166 likely yes. I sensed it. My manager's behavior suddenly changed against me, starting Jan this year. Then suddenly he again became normal to me in early May . He in-fact provoked me couple of times so that I do something unacceptable. Interesting to see if my sense was correct or not .
fire up AI
gonna be a ride
so much for optimism
Hiring freeze coming. Likely reorgs with looming cuts. WD is the new Seagate
rumors, like dreams, can come true
look at our history over, it's when
@OP I think there will be some re-orgs coming up
