Severance benefits question

When laid off, I took the every 2 weeks pay option to keep my benefits intact. I’ve found a new job - is there a way to cancel my benefits but keep the every 2 weeks pay? Curious to see if anyone in the same boat has been able to accomplish this.

Trying to avoid the lump sum payout as my severance goes into 2026 & I’m trying not to spike my income level for taxes.

Thanks!

Of course you can cancel your benefits. WF will want to lump sum you after that though. If you read your documents it says at their discretion how your severance is paid.

it would be an event that allows you to cancel - just like when you are an employee, if a spouse loses coverage or gains coverage, you can change your election outside the annual benefits period. call HR line.

Congrats on the new job!
Glad to know that you get to keep your benefits if you take the 2 week pay cycle rather than the lump sum. Planning ahead for myself and praying for a new job when the time comes.

if you have new benefits with the new job you should be able to cancel due to this being a life event. Try doing it through Teamworks at home or call whatever number you have for hr.

@a7 Nope, paycheck is exactly the same (benefits cost, taxes, etc.)

Do your benefits cost more in severance?
