Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Can this be correct?

Management makes threats about in-office reporting every few months or so but the spreadsheet doesn't track time, only days in office. If you've put in 6 hours, 4 hours, 2 hours and haven't been talked to, you're fine. In my experience employees only get in trouble not because of the report that's generated, but because of bitter coworkers reporting to their manager.

I've been doing full hours but I'd love to change that if this is true? Is there any way to confirm this?

Honestly, I wouldn’t come in for less than however long your LOB has told you on the regular, just in case time tracking ever does come online and is backward looking. Just save it for the days where you really need to be in for less.

I’m in Tech, we were recently informed that time in office reporting does exist and that we’re required to have 6 hours on in-office days. Doesn’t seem to be applied across the board but our leadership is trying to get ahead of it by requiring it now. I do think these reports should be accessible to all, restricted only to the employee who is viewing them as that would be most transparent. We can all speculate as to why the “rules” are so vague but until then I appreciate my org being honest with us.

As a former manager, I couldn't see when an employee swiped their badge, but I could see when they connected to the network using remote access. That could put you on the termination list instead of the displacement list if your manager is monitoring it. Just a warning . . . .

This is a double double secret and they are purposely vague and no direction. Keeping us guessing keeps us getting to a number we think we are okay at. I have been 2 4 6 never 8 mostly 4 or 5 and no word. I did not hear i was out of compliance. Reporting costs money and there is always issues in the reports that has to be researched so the pure reliance on the report itself without dialog is probably not a thing they would do. Data costs money and if this is what they are spending our stockholders money on that is a total waste. In office - you showed up, you wasted gas, if you don’t stay that is up to you i think”. We sure track the wrong stuff. I would say if they want to find an excuse to fire you they will use this data but not if they are not looking for a reason. It would make no sense. Now they could reduce your rating but i have not heard of anyone downgraded because of that

FYI: Detailed tracking does not currently exist, and systems are not integrated. There is a project going on to fix that. Soon, management will know when you badge in and badge out and if you were on the network in the office and for how long. I would anticipate by end of year or sooner.

I walk in, wave to the security guard, take the elevator to my floor, sign on, read some emails, fill my coffee, take the elevator down, wave to the security guard. 30 min and never 3 days a week.

There’s always one on the team who’s a brown noser and will tattle.

If you do it, stay tf quiet about it and keep up appearances as much as you can.

The company is still looking for reasons to lay people off, don't make it easy on them

do whatever until your manager reaches out and tells you to stop.

The more people who abuse it, the more likely they will get serious about tracking actual hours with badge swipes, hours connected to the network, etc. If you've managed so far, keep it up for the team.

Being that the post speaks to one persons experience, I'd say give it a shot one week and then go back to what you normally do. If you don't get talked to then you know you're fine.
