The air is thick and I am already looking for new options. How many more of you haven't had a meaningful assignment in a long time? That's a big red flag.

How is this even possible? When I worked there nothing got done because managers would change our top priority every 15 minutes and they wanted a summary of your accomplishments every week (started work on X for 240 different Xs. The length of the list defined accomplishment in the eyes of management.)
I work at FB on top of my regular job here at Cisco. I know of a director who does the same. Keep your raises/promos/bonuses.
Most employees have a second job outside Cisco and HR does not care
been doing nothing for past 3 yrs.
Welcome to purgatory
I know exactly how you feel. That's what my current situation is. It's been like that for several months now. I'm doing nothing every day. Literally nothing. This is the most boring job with boring people, me surrounded by bunch of juvenile non-skill non-experienced people. And yet, I get paid.
If you're really feeling anxious to "work," look for a job outside Cisco.
Cisco is NOT for people who are very motivated, who are career-minded, and who have a passion for work. It's for people who have no or little skill/experience. It's for kids.
How so many years you spent, there is absolutely nothing you gain, and no skill or experience that you will be able to use at other companies.
I no longer care if I get assigned anything or not as long as I get paid. And strangely, I may be upset if my manager asks me to do any tiny little thing...
BTW, just because you haven't had an assignment in a long time doesn't mean that's a big red flag. Who told you so?
I feel pretty sad to see this post.
My work load is overwhelming, maybe 2.5 to 3 people's job and new tasks keep coming ...
I hope I can be LR/ER soon,
Just cruise, mate. It’s easy and a fun way to get paid.
It is absolutely your job to add value. Glad your finances are fine when your worthless a-s is kicked to the curb.
@Post ID: @chn+1jx3dkkK ... If you’re not contributing then GTFO!
You can't really contribute if they don't give you meaningful assignments. Why should we GTFO??? It isn't my job to find work for myself. That's the job of management.
Some people have left or will soon. I've thought about it, and have had 2 offers. The truth is I want to see how this plays out. My finances are in good shape. I won't be out of work for long if I get cut.
I need to know what the geniuses in the corner offices come up with. Seriously, they inspire no one. The longer this drags out, the worse the outcome. How can it be any other way?
Layoffs are typically conducted by aligning undesirable employees to unfunded strategic initiatives. Most Cisco employees don't work much... although if you are aligned to projects that might not be funded in the future... switch teams quick
Half the company is working 2 hours days.
If you’re not contributing then GTFO!
