Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It's time for me to leave the banking industry altogether

Fifteen years of working in banking like an id--t for nothing. I've lost so much of my life working my a-s off. For what? Just to be unceremoniously kicked to the curb one day, with nothing to show for all the years spent in this sweatshop. There's no way to reclaim the time lost. For us average folks, we're getting nowhere in this business. Forget about promotions and riches. You're always just a number to be cut, probably at the exact moment you need the job the most.

I’m leaving very soon and going back to school and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. I’ve put up with this sh-t for 3 years and wish I did it sooner. This company is nothing but a paycheck that makes ends meet, not allowing me the ability to save. There is no opportunity for growth in this BS institution and I let them know all about it on peakon. Let me go so I can have a nice break before school startss, I could care less anymore

Speedrun to being the worst firm in the industry. But who is surprised, our leaders spend 25 years at Goldman each, they are one trick ponies that only know cutting. Not to mention Goldman produces some of the most toxically deficient leaders in industry. Abandon ship, there is nothing for civilized people here anymore.

I left on April (involuntarily, mind you). Last month during my annual physical, my doctor noted that I was appearing less stressed than usual. When I revealed that I had been let go from my employer (he did not know which one), what he next said totally stunned me.
He observed that he saw me perennially stressed precisely since I joined BNY. And now, despite not having a job was feeling a lot better. He said that such employers are causing a medical epidemic in the US. I think I agree with my doctor. I have worked for 5 of the top banks in my career. BNY turned out to be THE worst by far.

💯% agree. This place holds no loyalty to any of us but expects us to dedicate every waking moment to them for nothing. They dont care if its cost you precious family moments you can never get back. Ive held out only because i dread starting back at the bottom but am miserable dealing with bs daily
