Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Can you get laid off, severance, re-hired inside 6 mod then get laid off again with a new severance countdown,

This is a d-mb post, I’m first to admit, but I’m curious if you’d be prevented from getting many mos of severance twice if say you had ~ 13 years of service and re-hired inside of 6 mos and then circumstances led you to get laid off yet again.

Mad respect for anybody who pulls this one off if it’s possible.

Not a d-mb post at all! I had the same question. Happy to see these answers as I’m interviewing for a position now.

Aa long as you are within the 6 months it's as if it never happened. The only exception would be if your severance is longer than 6 months and you take a payout. In that case, your seniority stays but you have to repay any extra amount received based on when you get rehired.

I had a former teammate that played this game. I think he was displaced 3 times. Each time he took 4 months off and then applied for a new position. Each time he made it under the 6 month window. Between non-working notices and the 6 months of severance, he ended up getting paid for close to 24 months without work over a 5 year period AND he still has his full severance available to him along with PTO, etc.

Perks of working near a large hub - always jobs available.

I would agree with previous post. If you are hired within 6 months you keep your seniority. So instead of getting severance for 19 years like the 1st time (granted you gave up some of that severance if you are rehired within 6 months) then your 2nd round of severance would be for 20 years.

If it's not specified in the contract you signed when you were displaced, I say getting a 2nd shot at severance is a go

I was displaced in Feb of this year with my 60 days of non-working notice ending in early April. I had no interest at all in returning to WF, but a former colleague reached out to me in May and after some back and forth urged me to post for a role on his team, which I did. I had two interviews and was offered the job. I negotiated a start date after my severance runs out in mid July. If hired within six months, everything stays the same (title, PTO days, etc.). I asked him what happens if I get displaced down the road and he said you would get severance again as if the first displacement didn’t happen. He seemed confident in this, but not 100 percent. Maybe someone else knows?
