Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Any know how to tell that your about to be laid off?

I know the obvious one is a last minute Tuesday meeting just after payday.

However, does anyone know of different systems any employee can go to see that might give clues? For example, a code showing on a Teamworks profile or verbiage in your Outlook profile?

When I tried to get back access to the site allowing me to send a fed ex, I got a system message that my ad ent was marked for deletion. Next day, job was eliminated. So, yes.

Your Gut Feel. Well, if you've been in the business for a long while your subconscious will trigger your gut feel. If it doesn't and you are let go you haven't been paying attention to previous layoffs in your career.

I have been told this is the key indicator: you lose the ability to send external email the night before.

@b4 Or new manager saw you as the weak link in the chain and you couldn't rely on your old buddy manager any more to keep you off the chopping block. If they really did things that were term worthy, you'd have a lawyer queued up and be drinking mai tais on the beach.

I had a meet expectations mid year review, new manager comes in at the 8th month and makes up negative petty things to put in my annual review in addition to doing things that could be considered termination worthy. That’s when I knew I had a target on my back.

Are you being given less work? Are managers and directors around you not as responsive as they once were? Is there no sense of urgency around the work you are doing? Are you seeing more of the work around you being moved to India? Have you been asked to train people in India? Those are the signs. There is no secret code to look out for, just how much value you are adding.

Are you in the US? Then it's a matter of time.

@ag Cancelled 1:1s are not a reliable indicator. Our managers have bosses that they report to as well and sometimes have unavoidable meetings with their food-chain, our risk partners, firedrills, etc.

I always knew because all work would be taken away. 1x1s get cancelled.

Almost everyone lost the ability to send emails externally. You'll need an exception or you're client facing

A couple of people lost the ability to use the secure print at work along with sending external emails a few weeks before they were displaced. Could have been a coincidence but seems possible with how displacements have been handled.

No, nothing in the system. If you aren't remote and already in a core market, it's all up to chance really.

Maybe if you see your team backfilling or hiring in India. If your role is simply processing something in a repetitive manner, then you could be at risk.
