Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Salt Lake City

Does anyone know what will be happening with Salt Lake City. I know it’s not a secondary or specialty for Corporate Risk. Very curious as there are any plans. Does anyone know anything?

SLC has 2 operational facilities in close proximity to the airport. From my understanding they own one and lease the other. They have their name on a downtown building with some floors occupied as well as a branch on the first floor. It’s considered a hub for some businesses such as WIM due to the strong presence of companies such as Fidelity/ E*Trade/ Morgan Stanley / Goldman Sachs giving a good size pool of licensed reps. It’s also considered a hub for Enterprise Complaints but that business has been aggressively offshoring. It’s not a major hub and seems like they’re not quite sure if they want to invest interest or not. I could see SLC going either way.

If you think SLC has long-term viability as a location for anything you are deluding yourself. I like SLC, all things considered , don’t get me wrong.

I purposely relocated away from SLC 2 years ago thinking the writing was on the wall. I've been surprised (happily so for my old team) to see my team grow since leaving. It's just a small team, but it looks like it's safe at least for now. That doesn't mean specific departments won't downsize or exit though.

Out of curiosity, can someone who works in the SLC location give some information on what it is like? I.e., where is it located, is it a single building, how many people, etc? (I'm currently in a non-hub location in the mountain west and may have the option to relocate to SLC).

Operations is there, few other things. My guess is, it will be the temporary survivor while Boise, Portland, Salem, Albuquerque, El Paso, and Denver whither away. SLC is a hub for at least one LOB. The others, not so much.

Somehow a core location for WIM, though.
