Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Chances of Elon Musk styled mass layoffs next quarter?

Knowing how much T likes to follow /emulate Tech industry big names, pretty sure leadership is watching and salivating over Twitter, Amazon, Google etc. and their force reductions, no doubt plans will be put in place this quarter for force reduction Q1 2023. What divisions can we expect to be cut by more than 25%?

Cuts will be in areas of the business that are stagnate or producing less than favorable numbers for the bottom line! Other than that, the cuts will be minor if at all simply because T can sustain the head as it sees fit! I'm looking at this scenario through rose colored glasses and see a more favorable outcome because the cuts incurred will be made by employees leaving on their own and not forced.

Elon can do it. He is the man. He should come over to AT&T and do some needed cuts.

Twitter in hot water with WARN…..

The attorney who filed a class action suite against Tesla for the same was not successful. The same attorney filed against Twitter. I think Twitter is paying these folks through Feb, which is way more than the 60 day notice ( which basically amounts to a 60 day severance) the WARN act requires. Perhaps with the crazy laws in CA, those folks may end up with something. It is likely over and done with, dead issue.

I would look refer to stats from the T site for employee count https://about.att.com/csr/home/reporting/issue-brief/workforce.html

Or this
As of January 31, 2022, we employed approximately 203,000 persons. Approximately 37% of our employees are represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) or other unions.

Right now, on November 7, 2022 the LinkedIn Insights page for AT&T lists company size as 266,223 employees. At 10% reduction would be a 26,623 employee surplus.
Let that sink in. That's 26623 lives affected; families affected.
Ratty and Stinky can't take all the blame but they sure can take a large part of it for ruining this company with their horrible leadership. The awful BOD can take their share of it as well for allowing these two clowns to run it.
You have to ask yourself, if T does have a 10% reduction, how many 3 levels and above will get the ax, if any? And how many 2 levels and below will get it?
My guess is not 1 3 level or above will get a surplus notice. The people below them, the ones who actually do the work, will get cut.

Twitter is in hot water with WARN. T can’t cut 50% of workforce like Twitter, but rest assured T will avoid WARN and cut deep in the coming future. 10% is likely and reasonable as T makes decisions on what products to retire.

10-11% layoffs aren’t bad u leas you’re the one surplused. Still that can be a blessing fot getting away from this horribly run pit ho-e of a company.
Got my surplus notice 9-22 with last day on payroll 10-6.
Got my 6 month severance deal and celebrated a victory.
A victory of not having to report anymore to some young di----t of an AVP who only knows how to fu-k things up by their horrible management practices. Not having to work a mindless, soul-crushing job I was forced into due to lack of resources. I don’t have to worry about quarterly layoff due to the horrible leadership. The list goes on.
I now can sleep better at night, my attitude has improved, homelife is much better, job outlook has improved….
Not sure what company I’ll be with in the future but I sure as he-l know all about the shithole called AT&T I came from.
Good luck everybody!

10% is not that bad all things considered! that's only 1 out of every 10 people will be terminated by the end of the year.

“I’ve heard 10-11% of management by first quarter, depending on how many people retire before then.”

That’s exactly what I heard, from a L3. Count on it.

Corporate America has been run this way for decades, that is, when you have a very large payroll, it's OK to pad the payroll with more than necessary employees. My Son needs a job after college, done, my Daughter needs a job, done, my Nephew needs a job, done, been this way for a very long time and nobody seems to notice! Even with all the layoffs, it will continue to stay this way. It's the American way!

Expect more layoffs, more cuts in bene
A new buzz about transformation, new type of company.

These people had no idea about what telecommunication's could be, not an advertising company, a movie company, destroyed possible satellite options with dtb
Lack of real vision, just a kissers and smug foks
