Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

When will verizon layoff managers with less than ten employees

Title pretty much says it. Let's cut cost and get the managers off the books with less then 10 employees. All they do is approve time sheets and remind you about classes. Some only have five employees.

By the way, proper English is “fewer” not “less”

@df+1jyanv4qk and thanks for sharing something that never happened. Plenty of Sr. Dirs have been shown the door. Heck I've seen Sr. Dir and their whole org cut. AI&D can share a thing or two and so can TPD. Stop inventing nonsense.

What a dim-witted view of management... it's not about HC anymore or titles... or did you sleep thru the last taxonomy change???

These managers are too tight nit. The department I'm in, they all agree to not take work without budget, but we're on salary. I'm not sure how that works. What it ended up happening is that my senior director stood up to the executives and said, no layoffs else all people under him goes. In a way that is great but then only a few get the recognition as promotion for keeping people's jobs secure.

AT&T did this (at least 10 direct reports to each manager) with its 2020 Vision, cutting 33% of headcount just before the CEO exits. It looks like Verizon is 10 years late and cutting 25% of headcount, which will likely be immediately followed by a change in command.
