If you are thinking of migrating work or roles to the BTC beware! Every time we get someone trained at the BTC which takes considerable effort they resign. It isn’t helpful when you are constantly training a new person just to have them leave when they finally get to the point of being able to contribute. I don’t see how the BTC model can be sustained.

The number of bsuiness trips to and from
BTC this year is insane. Millions spent on business trips. Spreading Houston toxic culture like a disease. BTC is a much better place to be than the haunted Houston campus, and the people are smarter and friendlier too. Of course some agenda driven managers and workers are intentionally trying their best to make BTC fail, but the truth is understood by higher mgmt. Hence be prepared to continue losing US jobs. I was there too, the place is full of non locals all the time draining the employees there
Not conincidence that they kept piling resources to BTC. Management is too thin skinned to admit they screwed up. Their hubris really got them thinking whatever issues tech 500 ran into during their stint in outsourcing will not apply to XOM....because...umm..we are XOM...pu-e.
@2mwf+1jybL1or I did! So I can bi--h all I want. Why are you still there with he shape of an L on your forehead.
unpopular opinion but you are punishing the new hire by refusing to handover properly, not the managers. so you are actively working on further damaging EMs reputation because you are petty and live out on frustration on the weakest in organisation. which makes you a bully.
At the end it does not help you either, just worsens the toxicity and destroys someone else's chance to do a decent job.
If you are in this mindset, do yourself a favor, get a job somewhere else.
Let’s talk resignations from US — Sick and tired of proving capabilities from when one manager and employee gets replaced by another. The attrition in the sites must be really high.
if you look at facts, TC resignations is no different than US, it’s actually lower.
There must be unhappy middle managers and higher ups who are doing these posts to drum up hatred amongst people to secure their own agenda’s and jobs.
No different than Baton Rouge. We train engineers and once they see the lame group leads and Toxic managers, they get the he-l out. Can’t say that I blame them either.
@1wxr+1jybL1or Totally agree. I do the bare minimum with requests to train people from low cost centers. Passive resistance if you want to call it.
The only thing worse than low cost centers taking your jobs are the brown nosing, a** kissing, down on your knees orcs that proactively engage in this for their own benefit throwing all others under the bus. And this is not only management but technical and skilled positions. I see it everyday at EMTEC. Y’all know who you are and no amount of rationalization or self justification can excuse you. How can you look in the mirror everyday. And do you know how much your co-works quietly despise you.
@1krc+1jybL1or NEVER EVER TRAIN YOUR REPLACEMENT!! When asked to train someone look for ways to say no, ignore the request, or just avoid or minimize any meetings or interactions with the young person. If you are forced to talk with them just waste their time talking about the weather, family, and so on. Never ever give away your knowledge and expertise. Otherwise you will be laid off quickly. My supervisor recently asked me to train someone in an Asian country to bring her "up to speed" quickly. I just ignored the email. Never responded to it. Good luck. I am going to milk this company until the end. F**k them.
It’s hard to be empathetic with employees at BTC or KLTC. They know exactly what they are signing up for and are using the situation to get their work experience and resume built up for there real future job.
Conversely employees in HC10 countries have had to deal with massive layoffs (thanks BTC and KLTC😡) while having benefits and other given work conditions taken away. And the management keeps taking more and more hoping to drive more people to quit.
Nothing has changed between the contract between ExxonMobil and BTC and KLTC but the employee/ company contact has been tossed away by ExxonMobil management for HC10 locations.
There will be a reaping of this action in the future but long after Darwood and the leadership cashed out and moved on.
BTC is the best!
At BTC, salaries aren't competitive.
No pension plan there.
People are being continuously PIPed on flimsy grounds
No clear path of career growth but only mass hiring.
No training program for new hire like EIO in USA
No medical insurance for parents, no dental plan (standard in Indian companies)
Favouritism is widespread (company wide thing) so some people get preferential rankings
Can you all please tell me why should employee be loyal to the company there?
Many NA companies can tell you about this attrition problem before you even start.......... he-l it is well published. Unfortunatley Exxon's own brand of hubris combines with bobblehead managers led them down this path of no return.
Kind of the same way, but a little bit different. I am 55 years old training a new Engineer at EM in USA , then the engineer is now well trained and EM showed me the door. Beautiful, Isn’t it? And you are talking about loyalty. Go a f@k yourself!
You should be in Europe now, most can't get beyond cl 26 now. How's that for a lifetime career? Have to imagine BTC have lower prospects than even us?
There aren’t enough senior positions for anyone in the BTC to want to stay. When you can so easily see your ceiling why not get out once you’re ahead?
I guess trying to save money by hiring cheap labor and screwing people over that have been loyal isn't netting the results they hoped for..... gee what a shocker. Are they really this d-mb?
also, we been to train them at 7:00am. RIP our work-life balance.
I guess VP or senior management never did that anyway.
Same issue in KLTC. The company is too cheap to pay market wages to retain staff. The headhunters have us figured out. There are plans to reduce EMTEC by 60% or more replacing them with people in KL and Bangalore.
It will be a huge mess.
BTC new hire have hopes of expat assessments.
Typically the BTC new hire then assigned to work from India and no travel.
BTC employee quits as soon as gets offer to go expat with another company.
EM disappointing employees worldwide. Therefore attrition worldwide.
Same thing is happening at Canadian offices and sites.
Management doesn’t care. The message of shifting to “lower” cost regions is too great of a sound bite and everyone thinks they will make a quick buck. Understanding the true cost of shifting the footprint is way too nuanced for our upper management to understand and they are paid to keep their head in the sand.
Heard the same about KLTC
