Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Burnout cycle

They've squeezed us so thin that even PTO doesn't help anymore. I came back from vacation to 500 emails and twice the backlog. My therapist says I need boundaries, but when your workload assumes you'll work nights and weekends, what's the solution? I know I could quiet quit, but that just means punishing my coworkers.

How did you get authorized PTO?! Get back to work! No more holidays for any of you, either! That's what The People want, apparently.

Force them to prioritize. Give them a list of tasks and ask them to tell you which ones you should focus on first. Don't work overtime for free.

My last manager (since laid off) scheduled our first one-on-one at 6pm. I replied to the meeting invite and said "That's after my normal work hours. Can we reschedule?" And he did. Don't let people walk all over you.

Stop working away your life. You’re just playing into their hands. This bank was already fine for offshoring their work and never slowed. These are not the leaders to bend the knee to.

Nobody believes such hyperbolic statements. It’s a sleepy operations custody bank. Man up and do your job. Ask a boomer how they carried far heavier loads with less people.
