Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

How many of you are the real hard workers?

Still hoping just to keep your job, or still holding on to the belief that hard work pays off? If you’re one of them, please stop. No matter how much effort you put in, how much energy you spend, or how dedicated you are, it won’t be appreciated. More often than not, you’ll end up being the first one targeted in a layoff. Trust me, I learned that lesson the hard way.

I was always a workaholic. I laid it all out on the floor. I put the Bank on the map four times and my achievements are literally core bank lore.

I quit during a performance appraisal and walked out with my head held high. I first blocked out all of the right people and now I sleep like a baby. Three years later I do still get regular former colleagues who ask how some of my algorithms work. If they were slackers I ignore them. I have zero regard for slackers. There were a few offshore workers who called me night after night and pleaded to me to help them. I do wonder who answers those calls now. I recall that I blocked about six callers from Cognizant.

The extra time that you have been spending working for free for a horrible company, redirect that time to your job search.
I did that and it finally paid off…. took quite a bit of time, but eventually paid off, whereas working extra hours for free for Bny will never pay off
