Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Who is gonna fix sh-t now

Lot of employees let go knew the in and outs of their respective networks they managed in Cary as well as being hard workers.
They could spot higher level issues hours before anybody else could.
It seems the trend here is to fill departments full of contractors to save money over having employees. The downside is the contractors don't give a rats a-s. They are just here till they have Verizon on their resume till their next job

The TDM days are numbered as we are past the August 2022 FCC sunset date. Contractors will be used to put it to sleep and decommission equipment in the CO's.

I’m in Cary as well. My NOC is decimated and they are combining NOC functions. I should’ve see the writing on the wall when many if my coworkers scammed to company to stay in Manila for MONTHS “training “ their own replacements!! We had tons of commercial customers with diverse products and they just shipped it overseas.

"kindly" and "do the needful".
So funny. How many times had I heard that phrase. We ALL hated that in Cary. Management put up those glam pics of our overseas 'partners' all over our cary office. What a slap in the face to us.
"US", I volunteered for the RIF back in 2019 and got it. So dang glad I did. Been retired ever since and loving life. Thanks VZB, I mean it. On top of it all they forced the non union folks to bust the line. I am not a fan of the union but dang, what a heartless act.

“Having Verizon on their resume”? Sorry, having V on one’s resume doesn’t add much value other than either saying you come from a legacy analog world or you have been comforted by the Vz Union during your time there.

Why the illustrious overseas contractors who are SMEs - they put it in their mail signatures so it must be true. Even more OOO auto-responses to fill up your mailboxes- we have to know that it's outside of the SMEs working hours...'cause they so critical to the mission ya know. SMEs who need checklists but can't follow them for the jobs they get paid to do day in and out. SMEs at using glam photos as there corporate pictures. Masters of writing - never tire of being asked to "kindly" do something or better yet the "cringy "do the needful" ...since they are SMEs I think they need to tell whatever group they are asking to "do the needful" exactly what "the needful" is because we lost so many knowledgeable employees that we may not know. Dare not complain about the SMEs quality of work or lack thereof to the corporate overlords who sponsor them because "how dare you...nobody in the US would do the work they do for the pay...yadda, yadda, yadda. Pseudo SMEs in - real employees with a stake in success out. Our future is golden or more like gold plated in a monsoon. At least customers will "kindly be told that someone will do the needful and fix their issues or order their new services". Can't make this po-p up.

Agree with op. Offshore people , there are exceptions, don’t care if the ticket or issue is resolved in a timely manner especially wireline. That side is mostly outsourced. Vz continues to let valuable people go.

Nobody even knows who was laid off. That’s how important the job you were doing is.
