Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

5 years should be the max employment length at WF

Wells should not allow anyone (no exceptions) to work there for more than 5 years. Not a single day over.

I know, "yada yada institutional knowledge yada yada". So what?

5 years. Anyone who wants to stay longer is touched in the head.

Take it from someone that is retiring after decades with only a free checking and a gift! Gain experience and leverage their tuition reimbursement and then move to another company.

It’s me. I’m the one that wants to stay. A company here and a company there is all the same to me. Corporate has always been corporate, only it’s getting a little more intense given the state of the market. Personally I work for my leader and I vet my leader the same way they vet me in the interview process. I need to know that the work my leader was hired for is going to make them a valuable asset to the company therefore they are a valuable asset to me and I’m going to help make them very successful. I’m thankful I found a real deal go getter. Young smart full of great ideas and most importantly she understands that work life balance is crucial in this world. It’s really hard to make it happen in this culture but that’s why you should be able to communicate and set healthy boundaries with your peers and leader because they have created that safe space to do so. I hope you all get to find your safe space one day and if you’ve already found it then you’ve been given a gift that you must nurture.

The very first thing everyone does at WF when presented with a deadline is to ask for an exception. The exception process is actually built into pretty much everything we do now. Don't believe me? How long after Internet Explorer was retired did we still have it? Years. How long after SharePoint 2007 expired did we have it? Years.
Don't we still have Windows Server 2012 installs? Pretty sure we do - in 2025.

All extended long past the deadline with an exception. So don't tell us 'no exceptions' - we won't believe you.

You lost me at "Anyone who wants to stay..." Who is on this site and wants to stay, given the current CEO and his JPM cronies???
For many of us it comes down to Better the Devil You Know Than the Devil You Don't.
I hope Scharf is itching to jump to a new bank.

There's hardly any boomers working at WF in positions of real power anymore. What the kiddies here really mean is "fire all gen X". You know, because anyone that's older than they are is "bad".

Fire all boomers! Replace them with offshore talent
They’ve wrecked enough at WF. My entire team agrees.

Wow, look at all those spammed downvotes. There's one boomer in Iowa who certainly took that personally lol

Over 3 years is too long.

Absolutely! The coasting and empire building from the right end of the age-bell curve here is unreal

Agree, OP. Seeing the kind of weirdos who post here as if their length of service is something to brag about really only reinforces it.

That's d-mb as chit. But you do you and work your way up to CEO and try it. Good luck.

The top brass needs to go. Yesterday!
It will take 10+ years to baseline re-establish what they have broken in lost knowledge by zz’ing experienced people and pandering to the government. So, disagree on behalf of the company’s health.
For the career growth of an individual, I agree with you. Inflation-only raises will eat you alive.

Ok, let's fire Shart first and reassess. Sound like a plan?

Been here over 5x that long.

I'm in my 8th different job role.

I disagree with your opinion.
