Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Does anybody still dare to disagree with anything in meetings anymore?

Lately, every single one I’ve been in feels like a performance, just people nodding along, even when what’s being said makes absolutely no sense. It’s not technically my job to speak up, but I’ve been so tempted a few times just out of sheer disbelief. What’s going on here? Has it really gotten so bad that everyone’s too scared to rock the boat, or have we all just given up trying? Either way, it’s not a good sign.

Nope, I just smile and nod and go along with the bs. As long as they pay me, they can do whatever they like. I don't plan on being here much longer, so I just go with the flow.

If you saw what they're doing with the rewrite of our system, you'd laugh. It's gonna be a race to see if they finish it before I quit, but even if they get it coded, it may actually never work as intended.

I threw as much junk as I could into the mid-year review comments. I even used Copilot to take their five pillocks (oh yeah, pillars) and give me a blurb that sounds great but means nothing. I know all the ratings are predetermined, but I like to just fill up the comments with so much rubbish no one will ever read it.

I spoke up a lot as well.

What’s ridiculous Is those stupid surveys.

if you don’t fill them out, they complain saying they want your feedback… Then I gave my feedback and multiple times My boss reminded our team to please do these when we’re in a good mood and anything under an eight rating is considered poor

Needless to say I crush them every survey… Zeros ones and twos and those were my honest ratings

Management would respond saying I’d love to discuss this with you

They only wanted to discuss it so they knew who was giving them the poor ratings

That place is a dumpster fire and I encourage all of you to get out as soon as you can

I finally did… It took a while - A long while in a very consistent job hunt - and my gosh where I landed is a big difference

You start thinking every place treats their employees like Bny. And you start thinking everybody is as miserable as the employees at Bny.

They tried to give me another kick on my way out by trying to sc--w me out of my earned accrued vacation days……

What a bunch of horrible people running that place.

Anyone known to speak out, disagree or push back gets fired. I do it anyway cause they have no clue wtf theyre talking about. I have all my reviews and sh-t save so f with me cause it’ll be clear retaliation and a reason for me to sue when they try bullsh-t after I do: too many people are allowing them to get away with stuff which is why they keep doing it

Two things on this. First, people are apathetic now. They just show up and do the bare minimum to stay in survival mode. Second, the so called leadership now is so terrible and so wrong that people do not trust them enough to give them opinions, suggestions or helping to curb mistakes that are evident.
As you said, it’s just a performance now. Just bad acting by the leaders and no dialogue from the support. The stock is high, but there is big trouble brewing here
