Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What are your options if you have been put on a PIP plan

Hi, I was put on a PIP plan and there is a confusion regarding 30 days. Does the 30 day start after I was given the review and what happens after the 30 days they decide that I am no longer needed. Do they give severance for 30 days or no severance if you are fired because of PIP.

@j1 You sound exactly like my manager. How come you are wasting your time on this board. Every minute counts.

Oh please. This is the hottest job market in forty years. It’s eclipsed Trump’s first term and also Reagan’s two terms.

All of these useless so called “workers” have no idea how poisonous they are to their own careers. You and your friends are never going to have a successful career.

Your good buddies who enjoy slacking with you are not going to give you good references because it would impact their reputations.

You made your bed now lie in it.

Where I saw it successful pushing back was if you had been with the firm for a while, showing HR all of your prior ratings

if you have any, thank you type of emails or awards, providing those to HR

And finally rebutting/ refuting. Anything they tell you and asking for a specific examples and proof….

Thank you for the comments. I feel like I have chance to fight them. The reason I was assigned the PIP is not relevant to my performance. In my whole department I was responsible for generating pipeline. Without my pipeline our department would be in big trouble. I had started to talk back at my manager and talked to people. I feel like this caught up with me. I am not being put on PIP regarding results but for my attitude and my ability to work with people. I have great connection and working relationship with co-workers. However, with some I always butt head and they are the blue eyed boys of the higher management. I feel like I dug my own grave. All I had to do is agree to what they say and never give pushback. This has taught me a lesson that a-s kissing is more important than your results. Even though I know my days are numbered I have a plan to tackle it. The worst thing is the feeling that even though I had a chance I could have done something. I feel like my outcome has already been decided.

@f9
None that I know of in the past 2 years.

I know 2 people that knew it was bs, taught it & won so their rating & pip was reversed though because it was a bogus rating

“ fraudulent action by an immoral firm ”

You might be 100% right.

But I am telling you there is a 100% chance you won’t get anything if you tell them that.

@e6
This is not performance based,
This is a fraudulent action by an immoral firm that is now extending this fraud to label 25%of its work force ineligible for severance

The chances of finding a job after you have been laid off by a PIP is virtually zero in this economy.

Start looking now.
Start saving and spend as if you have already lost your job.

@a1 in general you don’t get severance for performance based layoffs but many companies would give you something for not fighting them.
So if you would normally get 1week severance per year worked, they might give you 1 week per two years work. As long as the employee isn’t an a-s about it they might get something.
Of course if your rights have been infringed, do what you have to do.

Start looking for a job. Assume you are already fired. Let’s hope you are not. But you do not want to find out that you lost your job and then start looking.. too late.

Reading more on this thread it looks like when you are on PIP and they let you go you don't get severance and basically they don't pay you for vacation and you get health insurance till end of the month which is for me August 30th. I will give my 100% even though I know they will fire me anyway.

Thanks for the reply. The end date for my PIP in oracle is August 15th. So that means that would be my last day or I get additional 30 days after August 15th

You have very few options. You might beat it this time but once you are marked, you are done.
