BNY severance

I was asked to relocate to be able to work 4 days in office or I would be offered a severance package. Does anyone know what BNY offers for a severance package? Im just curios what that might look like.

How long did your attorney have to negotiate with them to settle?

@d5 Yes, as long as you don't quit, you are eligible for unemployment.

@ae thank you for this answer. What kind of attorney did you go through? Can you recommend one or law firm? I fit the profile your described: over 40 with nearly 19 years of service. Facing disability. Any info would so much appreciated.

@f1 i know people who got let go last month. Its still two weeks for every year here and depending on what state you are in you can also claim unemployment at same time

@b2I should clarify that I was hired as a BAH employee, and told I wouldn't be asked to relocate. The closet office from my location is 250 miles away, or a 3.5 hour dive.

Related question.

If you're one of the unfortunate that gets force ranked into that below bucket and released with no severance. Are you eligible to collect unemployment?

Severance, really?
Prior to COVID my office in the Northeast was going to close and my manager gave me 3 options: Jersey City, 240G or RESIGN (in this case, with no SUB).
If you resign, that's on you. You get nothing, zilch.

I’m not completely sure what they do in the case of a forced relocation but I do know in general they are trying to not pay severance using phony performance reviews. If they are resorting to that tactic, I highly doubt any severance would be paid in this or similar instances. If you have been there for a significant amount of time and are over 40 years old, I would highly recommend you consult an attorney. I did this and they settled with me. The key is a proposed lawsuit around a protected class - age, race, s-x, medical etc. If you are younger and haven’t been there long, probably nothing you can do.

youre not getting severance if you dont show up to a single office come september that means you quit yourself.
